Why not have both? Ha! Here is a video for ya: Royal Corsair Retracts Video

Dion

GEEZ, Luke: I clicked on it thinking I might see it actually flying.
Anyway, I keep mine off the wheels too: I have a room full of 1" wooden dowels covered with pipe insualtion, hanging perpendicular to the walls. My aircraft rest nose down (which also keeps bearings lubed), hanging by the stabilizers from these dowels.

Hey, Jock... Have you ever had a problem with the clunk getting stuck in the front of the tank? I used to hang my planes nose down, but the darn clunk would get hung up in the plumbing end of the tank. Most of the time I could shake the bejesus out of the plane and break it loose, but there were times that tank removal was in order. My 1/5 scale stearman was notoriuos for that... note I said was... past tense... Yep you guessed it. I forgot to test the tank before filling. ran out of fuel 3 mins into the flight... waaaaaay to far away to glide home. Very scale like crash... grass fire and all!!

Hello all!! The moment you have all waited for (??) the lightening of wallets! The unit is slightly wider than the 615, but it amounts to about 1/32 shaved off each mount. It is longer as the cyl projects rearward, but I don't see a major interference. The unit is strong enouth for 1/8, 1/7, and some 1/6 up to about 20 lbs. Struts will be fully functional scissors-type, with 3/16 " dia. axles. Strut lengths will be per plane, not generic. There will be follow-ons for 1/5 & 1/4 scale. With luck, Jay will start on the CNC parts within a week, and he says once he starts, I will have parts by the following week!! (??) I will be building 10 sets initially, with one for me to bang up on my "torture" rack test stand! The others will be allotted to customers. As soon as these are assembled, and any "tweaking" of dimensions is determined, a second, larger batch will be started. System will include the mechanics & struts, tank, tubing, UP-1 control valve with independent control of up/down speeds, filler valve assy, and AIRPIN on board pressure indicator. Price will be $250. and I don't expect shipping/packing to be more than 10 bucks, since it will be a relatively light package. In fact, I'll fix it at that for these first 8 0r 9 units. If no gremlins show up, I could start shipping in about 30 days! I will upgrade an outline drawing and post it in my gallery in a few days. Will sneak out Sunday & Monday, which is my birthday! (Get to subtract another year!) Payment can be check, MO or PayPal, which accepts credit cards. My sincere thanks to all of you who have hung in there for me. I will be doing some advertising shortly, so hopefully the next batch will be much larger, and I can actually make a profit!! (Hope springs eternal, as they say!) Sincerely; Lee Robinson

Are you still at $260 shipped for a set Lee? I'm ready to paypal it TODAY.

Len

Hi Len; That's affirmative. $260. shipped, at least through this first batch! When I figure out my actual costs, I may strangle! But larger quantities will certainly bring my costs down. Thanks much. Lee Robinson

Hi guys; Just got a call from CNC shop about an hour ago.Parts for checkout of corrected program are ready. I go down there tomorrow with the other parts and we will assemble a set on the spot. If no problems, I say "go" and Jay says he will have parts for me in a couple of days! At that rate, I will beat the end-of-month estimated shipping and have some ready to go next week!! Sometimes even Robinson gets lucky!! I will publish a list of the firm paid orders and their sequence early next week. You guys have no idea how much your support has meant to this 'ol reprobate!! Oh, if anybody would rather not have their name & seq. published, just let me know, by email, and I'll send it directly to you. Lee

Hello all; Quick update: Just got back from cnc shop. A drill size correction, an .010 clearance change, and a small shift in the side rail slot is all that was needed. Because of jobs he has in progress, it will probably be end of the week until He can run them, so it will probably be Monday when I get the parts. Have 4 pd orders, supposedly 2 more coming, leaving 3 sets! Looks like I will have to increase the quantities on next run! I hope to have some general ads figured out this week. I'm really looking forward to getting the quantities up, and finally making a buck!! I figure that on this first batch, I'm working for about 37 cents/hr!! (Should I order my Rolls now???) Lee

Like the P51 pilot said to the rest of his squad: "Time to pony up boys".

We have all supported Lee in his efforts to develop better gear for our hogs. Lotso posts here about it. Posts don't feed the bulldog. He's barely got half of his sets sold. If they don't all get sold, I kinda doubt he's gonna make any more and you know what that means:

615's

I got mine.

What about you?

I'm in.

I'm half way through a T.F. Corsair build with the 615's. I'v got a few cycles on them and I'd love to rip them out and start over. Can't seem to get them to operate smoothly. I even put some light oil in the cylinders. That helped but not enough. This should be enough to convince anyone who has seen Lee's clip to buy a set from him immediately.

Corsair Gear Cycle

Lee, my check should be there by now. If it isn't let me know.

Like the man said, let's support the supporters.

Jon, how did you close the gear doors, servo or air? I like how that looks but I needed to save weight so I opted for a wire to close mine. Did you see my 615's in action! Ha! You did great work on those, let's compare tail wheels now!

Luke,

Here's how it works:

The design

The build

Servo signals come from a little controller I built. The servos are S148's but could probably be smaller. Not sure about wind loading yet.

Haven't started on the tail wheel. Yours is a thing of beauty.

Yes, my birds fly a little heavy but it just makes it more scale don't you think? Wait till you see the operational cowl flaps!! But maybe that's something for a different thread.
