It works fine for air systems if you use a servo to operate your air valve. The configuration in my Corsair is air operated main gear retracts, servo operated main gear doors and servo operated tail wheel retract with spring loaded doors. I used an extra controller for the cowl flaps. I seem to remember talking to you or someone else last year about solenoid operated air valves. I could make a special version of the LGC with no trouble depending on the valve specs.

The link to wingspan is ok except for the extra '.' at the end. Sorry about that. Try this one www.wingspanmodels.com

On the solenoids, it was me. I investigated a number of mini solenoids, but didn't find one suitable. But will do more checking a bit later. Right now, I'm snowed!! Got to Wingspan, and saw the video of the P-51 controller, s'matter-- you don't know the diff. between Corsair & P-51????!!!! (snicker!) Lee

Oh no, my secret is out. Now I'll have to built a P51 wing for the photos.

I found my old list of valve vendors. Check out:

the 407C at http://www.ascovalve.com They have a 6 volt, 400 ma, 100 psi valve. Might be too much current.
the 30M at http://www.hargravesfluidics.com Theirs is 5V, 800 ma, 75 psi valve. Even more current.

The problem has been the pressure and power required for the solenoid valves. Servo operated valves don't have that problem.

Lee,

I know we took this offline but my e-mails are being returned as undeliverable. Are you having trouble with your e-mail or is it me?

Jon

Lee, here's a link to some of my building with your gear installed. The parts are just dry-install so the tail feathers
aren't quite done yet. Clipped wing corsair ala Hammy Gray flying off Brit carriers.

I particularly like this pic:

Really shows them off to good advantage.

Thanks again for taking on this challenge.

I like that pic too, as it really shows the forward location of the struts! I noticed that the scissors on the right strut seemed to be straight. Yours may be one of those with just a friction stop, which tend to get out of whack. If you wish, pop off the struts and send them to me and I'll put a positive stop on them. No charge. Haven't heard from Mark lately on my Corsair, but it was at about your stage last info and pics I got from him. I'll have to look at his thread again. What engine are you using? I expect to use a 4-blade prop on mine, since my engine is a Fox 74, a very torquey engine!! Lee

The scissors have what, maybe 10-15o angle on them? Today was the first time in about 8-9 mo that I put air in the tank and rotated them a few times. I think I might wait till I've actually flown it and see how the gear perform b4 I take you up on your offer.

Using an RCV 90SP. It's a 2 to 1 geared glow that allows me to us an 18x12 2b or 15.75x13 3b.

I guess I just couldn't see it well enough in the pic. I agree, "if it ain't broke-don't fix it!!" See how it acts after a few "hits 'n gits" !! Lee

Lee, sent you an email.

another question: will lack of use cause air leakage? Pump them up to 80 lb and air is down to zero lb in about 5 minutes (no useage) through leakage.

I hear air leaking out through one cylinder (the one with no play naturally).

One of your older posts suggested using Parker o-ring lube

This stuff?
OR can I use something like BVM Thin Lube (neither seems to be available up here though ). Can I use a petroleum based lube or does it need to be silicone? Grease or oil?

If these hadn't been pumped/activated for many months, would the grease have "dried" out and require re-lubing?

If so, before I just start unscrewing parts, could you post a brief how-to with pictures as to how to go about accessing these o-rings?

Hi Len. I just replied to your other email, but just realized it should have been on the thread too. The reason for the Parker is simply that I have been using it for about 25 years, with no problems. I'm sure some of the other ones will work fine. But don't use oil! It doesn't stand up, at least not for me! I strongly feel that the leakage is coming from a bad piston O-ring groove, as the dia. of the bottom of the groove is critical. Haven't had many problems like this, but that is one I am familiar with. OH_OH! If Churchill were still here, I'd get called on that grammar! Someone called him to task one time for saying "put up with," His -eply? "that is the sort of thing up with which I will not put!" I guess I should have said "but that is the one with which I am familiar!" (My apologies, Winston!) Lee

Hi all. I have received samples of the new Williams Bros. wheels, which are a compromise 3-3/4" in diameter. Slim-line is about 1.02 thick, balloon is 1.2 thick. I'll attach pics of the slim-line on axle, the balloon, both together, and the 2 along withmy original "foamy" 4" I should have prices shortly. Dang! somehow I sent it twice! Now how do I get rid of one set?Lee

BAD NEWS!!! My Corsair was accidentally destroyed!!! I got word of it several weeks ago, and now I'm looking for a Corsair, P-40, Hellcat, preferabley Top Flite, that might be framed up to primer stage. Would trade a custom gear of some type for it. I need a demonstrator for this summer!! Any ideas? Also, the new Wms Bros. 3-3/4" balloon wheel will be available sometime this month. I am now a dealer for certain Wms.Bros. products, and am waiting also for the final wheel price. If you need something, wheels or otherwise, let me know. Lee
