Good evening Richard; Actually, a 1/8 size gear mechanics would work in the 1/7 as well, with just a slight difference in leg length.I'm going to give it some serious thought while working on all these other things. Basically, I'll evaluate what problems simply scaling down the present 1/5 scale would bring. I'm sure there will be some problems, but we'll see. Thanks for the comeback. Lee

Great. Please keep me posted. I might need the gear for the 1/7 scale Bearcats pretty soon.

Hello All; Still dickering with the cnc shop, BUT-- there is a good chance that by this weekend I will have a complete set together, or very nearly so, ready to go into a plane. Now I think I understand what Darrel went through; he just didn't communicate with you folks very well! But hang in there, o ye faithful! (And you know who you are!!) I expect to post some pics this weekend. Lee

Hello all; HALLELUJA!! The contractor finally showed up last week to fix our hurricane damage! And there are a large number of people around the state that are still waiting! Maybe we are a bit lucky! As to the gear, I spent time yesterday with the cnc man on the final drawings. I have to get a few more pieces of info for him, but I should have numbers by the weekend. The real shock was when I asked him how long it would take to get the first few for final checkout. "Oh, 2 or 3 days" I almost dropped my earballs! I was expecting about a month! By this weekend I expect to be able to run the numbers and come up with a price, and if no more dwg. problems, I should have parts and the first pre-production sets to verify that my goofs are all accurate!!! I will also post a short movie of it going up & down under air power. One question, I plan on pricing the system with and without the "plumbing" package,as many of you said they would be retrofitting an existing plane, which would have all the hoses, valves, tank, etc in place. Any comments? Thanks. Lee Robinson Oh, by the way, I will be doing an enlarged version for 1/5 & 1/4 scale.

That is awesome, both for finally getting the contractor out and the almost completion of the gear. I think that offering both options is a smart way to go. I also have my own equipment, but if I was still in the market to get the whole set-up I would definitely prefer to get it in one package. Thanks for working hard on completing the project despite the adversities. I for one appreciate it.

Brett

sounds good to me Lee! I have an existing setup I will use but I agree that if/when I build another I would like to purchase the entire system as a package.

Hi Voyager, et al; I expect to put up photos, including a short movie, this weekend. Today, I have a joyous(???) visit to the dentist, renew my commercial medical, and hopefully go flying with a friend in his Stitts Playmate. Roger has been a flying friend for about 45 yrs, but lost his medical due to severe health problems. While trying to get back to health, I fly with him as PIC "ballast"!! He had a Musketeer, but sold it recently, and has just bought a Sonex ultralite which he can fly without a med or license! But it only has 11 hrs of a homebuilt requirement for about 28 hrs within 25 miles of home before you can go cross-country in it. So guess who gets to fly off the remaining hrs?? Naturally I strenuously objected (Yeah--sure!!!). Lee

Hello Richard and all; I apologize, but my wifes' older sister died early this week, and our early warning had things well up in the air. She is still up in Kentucky with her remaining sisters (3) and I will try to get this up this weekend. She has lost 2 sisters and her only brother in a space of 5 years. Please be patient just a bit more. Thank you. Lee

Well of course, there's no hurry. Life's responsibilities come first. My condolences Lee.

Hello gang; I managed to get things together, but have to change a part. I miscued on the retract linkages, and gear didn't come up all the way. Tomorrow will be busy--get some material, and am scheduled for my biennial flight review tomorrow. Almost forgot it, and Rogers' Sonex arrives this week I have to fly off 17 hrs of required time before I can teach him to fly it. It's quite a neat little bird! Did get my class 2 medical out of the way about 2 weeks ago. For all you patient guys out there, I'm almost there! When you all "conned" me into this, I thought I'd be able to spend more time on it, but I could only spend a little here & there. But I'm very happy with the results!! Lee
