I know this question has been asked but again what rpm does that engine turn the 7/6w? I run 7/9 apcs on 32s and they turn up 20000+ on the ground. Seems that a 7/6w would be more suited for a 21 size engine.

What prop size would you recommend for this engine, plane combination.Jett tank looks like the one that will fit .Thanks Chris.

The fuel tank I originally got for my Stinger 40 didn't fit either... but the fuse could be "stretched" just enough in order to get it in... having three hands would sure be nice sometimes...
If all else fails you could grind the wing saddle a little... there's some extra material there (at least on the 40 there is)

Anyway, the Bubble Jett tanks are the way to go on this kind of plane. I went that route too, as it will probably save me some headaches later on. Can't go wrong with a Bubble Jett (if you fuel it the right way at least).

How's your wing by the way? Mine was not perfect. I think the cores were cut too fast or with too cold a wire or with not enough tension on the wire (or a combination of these). Nothing dramatic, but still... for the money they could have gotten that right.

Props...
I don't think you should worry too much about them. MyMay is probably on track.
The biggest worry you will have is that muffler. It is going to be impossible to get decent rpm/power on that can... Get a pipe or a Jett Stream muffler, and let it breathe.

I would start out with an 8/7 apc using your muffler, 8/8 if you go to a tuned pipe. These will allow you hand launch with ease. If you want speed, go with an apc 7/9 with muffler, 7/10 with tuned pipe. With the speed props you will loose launch ability so be aware of this. If you can get by the launch, hold on, because these high pitched props will really unload as the plane picks up speed.

Hmmmm - definitely too much prop when using the muffler , will not unload adequately without pipe

Zeroman, as suggested by others before please demount the muffler. It does really not
go with a serious speed plane application. Your engine has to rev and it likes to rev!
If you have to suffer from noise restrictions then you might try this:

MACS side exhaust header (small radius) # 2340
MACS Muffled Tuned Pipe # 1230
again APC prop 7.2X8.6 # LP07286
pipe length (from glow plug to the deflector plate in the pipe) = begin with 12" (to be shortened)

Later, you can always check out higher pitched props like an APC 7*10 being cut down to 6.5" in diameter.

Rudeboy,

what is the exact weight of your Jet .50 BSE ? - Just engine with carb and spinner assy, but without header)

Thanks in advance

If I may assist with that weight question....

The Jett BSE .50 AAC side exhaust, with the muffler and spinner nut is 16.8oz (476 g) on average. Comes in right at 17 oz with the ABC liner.

The complete AAC engine with prop nut only is 12 oz. Muffler weighs 4.8 oz

Maybe Rudeboy has a gram scale and can confirm these.

Bob

yeah, thats about right with the spinner. It is handy having the integral spinner assembly.

Dub told me earlier he finally finished the 2.25" spinners and has them ready to ship. Should be popular with the Patriot XL guys.
