For those who have added an antenna mast to this plane, how did you do it? What did you use?

Mine has not flown yet either. Waiting for smooth west wind to show up in Southampton.

I have not fuel proofed it. With my 10% nitro fuel I think it will be OK - I'll let you know.

...few more pics showing my crude air system install. Its all new to me so I want access to all the parts.

Well, some more progress on the Hurricane. The fuel tank has been added. The picture does not show all the foam packed around it. The batteries are also installed on the bottom under the fuel tank. There was lots of room down there. Throttle linkage is all done, all servo's are now in as well. I am still jigging the air system, have it just about sorted out. The cockpit is almost finished. The floor is epoxied, just waiting to spray it a light green colour. Pilot has been added as well.

Craig.

hi the previos pics should have come with words but i must have done something wrong cos they got lost!!!! so here are some more, photos are from the test flight's today of my YT/KMP hurricane, and all i can say is STUNNIN there arn't enough o's in smoooth to describe it, it needs lots of flap to get a nice descent rate, otherwise i can see it floating for ever, it does not need huge amounts of power, mine flies beutifully on an old but little used SC 108, using a custom built exhaust, 16x8 glass/nylon prop, 10% nitro fuel(it is cold and damp here) flaps 80 degs, no elevator trim used it just gently points its nose down and is easily controlled with the sticks to a nice flare and touch down, go finish them you will be very pleased you did.

I have finished my Hurricane but I am having problems setting up the throttle servo. I am using a Saito 150 inverted. The problem is the servo tray is above the fuel tank and the the engine's throttle arm is below. I have tried bending the control rod with a Z shape but I find that this makes the rod act like a spring and I do not have sensitive movements to adjust the throttle.

How have you all set the throttle servo up? A pic would help. Thanks

Have a look through this thread i think page 2 mount the servo on the engine mount under the cowl. I have used this method in 40deg c heat ok down under.

try a flexible push rod (e.g. steel cable) and run it through a plastic tube.

I used a perminent Steadler marker for my lines. They come in different sizes. I used the superfine tip. It has seemed to work good. I am not to sure on how fuel proof it is but I plan on clearcaoting anyways. I started the painting of the roundels using an airbrush last night. I got the yellow on and hope to get the blue on tonight.

Well I proceded with applying the white this evening. Did the botom of the wing, fuselage sides, as well as the white on the tail. I also applied blue to the upper portion of the wing. Tomorrow I plan on doing the red, on all roundels which should finish that portion, less the blue on the fin. Next will be the squadron markings, but presently I am not to sure of what colour to use. I have some documentation that states "Dark Sea Grey". I want them to stand out so maybe I will go with a lighter shade of grey.

Well I managed to get the red applied this evening, as well as the last blue paint on the tail. All that is next is the squadron marking. Then it will be time to weather. I still need to add the scale exhausts to the cowling. Due to having my 2 stroke engine at 90 degrees, the starboard side will only have one exhaust while the port side will have the three.

I am using Modelmaster paints. They cost about $4.00 for a small bottle. I mix it with Modelmaster thinner, and then airbrush it on. It seems to be working well. This is the model paint used on plastic models. I used the same paint on my Lancaster and after clearcoating have had no issues.

Craig.

Did the squadron stenciling this afternoon. I think it turned out well. The stencils are a little dark, however some good weathering shoul take care of that. I have attached some before, during and after pics.

I started playing with some weathering. I am using some old ceramic, water soluable paint. Seems to be working fine. The one picture with the cowl on, sure shows the difference that the weathering makes.

Quickly put it together to have a look. It is starting to look like an old, well used Warbird.
