Really? That tall!! WOW..... I'm am thinking about getting one to assembel over the winter. I think I may sell my Wild Hare and use the DA 50 in it..... How many servo's used on the alierons?

Status: offline 		Actually, when measured at the canopy, the Hybrid is 3" taller than the sukhoi. At the nose, They are the same height.

I wanted to do a "step by step" when building the wings, however once I got started it just went together to quick. I have my own method of installing shear webbing.

O yeah!! I sure did see the pic.... NICE! I know that the H9 Sukhoi had a nice sized rudder cuz I had one. Its lookin good so far Crash!

Status: offline 		5.5" tall by 4.5" wide at the firewall. Total engine compartment height inside is about 8.75" at the head location.

Status: offline 		Actually the engine inserts and removes from the front opening. It is easily tilted in and out. Obviously it's much easier (like with any model) to completely install the motor and muffler arrangement before doing the covering so you know where to trim out for the exhaust system. Plus you want to do this before you install the upper and lower cowling sheeting.

Glad the wings are going together great Crash, you'll be flying soon......hopefully before the weather gets too bad! Had mine out this weekend killing mosquitos with my smoke system.

Status: offline 		Well I went cheap mostly to keep the weight down. I went with the Dubro smoke valve and used crank pressure from the back of the DA 50. A tap is already provided by DA and you just have to put the bleed tap (8-32 threads) into the hole. Use a one-way check valve between the crank and the smoke tank and run both lines through the valve per the Dubro instructions. Use two "T" fittings in the lines to fill the tank. One is the fill and the other is the vent. The smoke valve must be in the off position to avoid pumping fluid into the exhaust while filling! Use a standard servo preferably on a proportional channel so you can regulate the flow amount with endpoint adjustments. Everything but the servo is up in the engine box area. I mounted the servo back next to the throttle servo behind the wing tube just to keep separation between radio gear and the ignition box.

Status: offline 		crash90 did you build the 1/4" stick fuse sub frame over the plans and then glue the side sheeting on to the sub frame or did you glue the 1/4" sub frame direct on to the sheeting
it looks to me that there is no way to get both sides the same with out building the sub frames
first - by building the subframes first all you would need to do would be cut and sand the sheeting to fit the frame - i dont want to cut the plans up if i do not need to

Status: offline 		You build the sheeting and glue the framing to that. It's easy, all you do is mark the vertical lines on the sheeting (guides are already provided on the plans, and glue your framing on. Piece of cake.

Status: offline 		Correct. The locations for the vertical 1/4 x 1/4 balsa sticks are extended. When you lay the sheeting in place you can use a straight edge to mark the sheeting.
So to answer your question I glued the 1/4" sub frame direct on the sheeting.

Status: offline 		Typically 2-3 degrees right thrust is standard on single engine planes. Some guys run zero offset and mix right rudder with throttle using a curve to compensate for engine thrust abd torque. I've seen pattern guys do this which permits a truer flying airplane.

Status: offline 		hey crash 90 i have my fuse done with motor mounted - how are you doing with your build
you build a lot faster than i do
i mounted a mvvs 58 with a pitts muffler on mine - it sure is a pain to get a muffler that is wider than the fuse in this plane - if the fuse was an inch wider in the front it would be a lot better
i ended making the bottom of my cowl removable - it was the only to get the motor & muffler
to fit and to be removable - i will start on my tail feathers this week

Status: offline 		Well, I don't have my motor yet. Hopefully I can get it in without too much trouble. I have the fuse and tailfeathers complete. The left wing is almost done. I haven't had a chance to work on it for a while. Hopefully this weekend I will get back to it.
I am short 1 main spar. My LHS doesn't have one. I am looking for a place that will ship just 1 piece. Not having much luck. So I can't begin the other wing yet.

Status: offline 		If I made the fuse wider, it wouldn't be a "Hybrid" anymore. Might as well just do a big full figured lady! LOL We put the inverted pitts mufflers on the DA 50 no problem. See the pics in the manaul. No problem installing or taking out. You still have to make the cutouts on both sides for the mufflers ends but after that, you just slide the muffler in, slide the engine in on top of it and bolt together through the side opening.
