I have been researching the Top-Flite P-47 (Gold Edition - .60 Size) and have noticed that there are two different retract units made specifically for this kit.

The Century Jet Retracts are around $190 and the Robart units are about $175.

The price difference is irrelevant, so can anybody explain the differences?

Advantages/disadvantages of each unit?

Which one is better?

Why?

Can't help ya there Maverick, most everyone I know has used Robart.

It would be interesting to find out the difference though.

From some other feedback I have received, everything is pointing to the Robart units.

The Century gear set is worth the additional funds. The Century gear is scale and is fully machined from metals. Very robust gear.

The Robart set is there standard 605 gear, is not scale and does not even look close. Plastic is used for the mounting plates. Additional plastic strut covers can be purchased but still does not look scale.

Check out the websites, I am sure they have pictures and additional info...

Robart does sell oleo struts to fit the 605 gear at an additional fee. I haven't used the Century gear and as I understand, they are of good quality. The complaints that I've heard, and there were more than a couple, were all in reference to their customer service. I've heard some serious complaints there, whereas Robart's has always been top knotch.
Spring Air is one that I've heard great things about as well.

Spring Air are the only way to go. You will want the 3/16 inch shafts, which are the heavy duty ones and away you go. They will fit the P47 with no problems. The plus side is that they are always in the down position. It takes air pressure to hold them up and if pressure is lost they come down and lock. I have flown the others and always come back to Spring Air. Good Luck, Dave
