Is there any guidance on what would be an acceptabe increase in EGT due to the fitting of a FOD screen to a 1200 SP

I made one from a tea strainer with fairly fine mesh.

At idle, EGT increased from 580 C to around 600 C. At 160,000 RPM, EGT increased from 650 C to 680 C or maybe a bit more. Ambient at the time was well into the 30s, maybe even 40 C.

I can look around for a coarser mesh, but I suspect there's always going to be some amount of EGT increase when the screen is installed.

Hi Phil,

Ideally, of course we'd like to see no rise at all. In reality, however, it may take a mesh that is so coarse that it provides little to no protection at all. You should be okay with the screen you've got, but it's probably still worth trying something a hair coarser to see how much of that increase you can shave off.
