Yes, here again is another search for the ever-so-scarce Bearing Housing for the OS MAX FS-90 (45401600).

I've contacted OS and they tell me to go fish.

So, I've sending out the SOS to the RC community.

Does anybody have one that they're willing to part with? If so, what's your price? (have a heart)...

Hope to hear from somebody soon!

Thanks in advance,
Zipperneck

Zipperneck,

I have a 1983 model OS 120 FS that has a broken cylinder head and is unusable to me. If the part you are looking for is the same on this engine, I'll let you have the whole engine free. It is of no use to me and I have no intention of repairing it. Let me know if you're interested. I'll send it to you.

Paul

I had to have one machined by a local machine shop. don't know what the cost would have been, because it was a friend who did it for free. Looks like os would support their products better. I have decide to purchase other brands of engines because of this.

PMW -

That's a very kind proposition on your part. Thank you very much, but from looking at the exploded views available on the OS web site, the OS FS-120 doesn't have the same set-up as the FS-90. First off, the FS-90's valve tubes are at the rear and it appears the 120's aren't, thus making it impossible to adapt anything. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll have to keep scrounging around, somebody is liable to have bearing housing laying around gathering dust...

Thanks,
Zipperneck

The O.S. Max FS-90 has been out of production since sometime in 1987. Parts production ceased around 1992 or so. O.S. will produce parts for 5 years after engine production ceases. Experience has shown that parts demand becomes so low after that, that they cannot economically make parts even if they took orders for a year and then made only those parts.

Bill,
Thanks for your reply...

I see that you're with Futaba so I'd like to grill you with a Futaba question.

I have a Futaba Skysport 4 that I had the friendly folks at Tiger & Avio (France) modify a while back by installating an On/Off (retracts) 5th channel switch.

Anyway possibility of installing a sixth channel on that baby? For say flaps?

Thanks,
Zipperneck

Perhaps an FS-80 front might work... - 9/9/2004 10:39:31 PM

Dear Zipperneck:

The PIPE here once more...and as I recall, I've seen photos of the equally OLD OS FS-80 four stroker in one or two of my equally old, early-1980s British scale magazine annuals (RCM & E Scale Specials)...and that old FS-80 is what the FS-90 engine...one of which I ACTUALLY HAVE...was based on!

There IS one American that is doing OS and Saito four stroke engine repairs in Florida, and his contact info is:

John Sepe
Seco Enterprises
301 Sabal Ridge Circle, Ste A
Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418
ph. (561) 625-9671
Email at jsseco@aol.com

He ONLY does OS and Saito four stroke engine work...and HE may have a spare FRONT HOUSING for that FS-90 of yours...and since I'd bet the exact same part was used on the FS-80 engine, THAT should also work...!

John Sepe did the bearing replacement work (all FIVE of them!) on my FS-90 earlier this year (hasn't even been RUN by myself since the new bearings got installed)...HE said that he ran the engine briefly before sending it back to me...so perhaps you MIGHT entertain the idea of giving him a try "if all else fails"...

Hope this info may be of some help to you!

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

Try Noel Jensen at nubs@mybluelight.com
Have purchased parts for my .90s from him before and believe he has quite a large stock.
