I finally finished mine. Waiting to fly it now. I used a 370 mah NiMH battery and my weight is 16.5 oz. Mike

I thought I would have more time to think about what to put in it, but since i got most of the wing and the fuse done last night after work, it is almost time to put in the radio gear!

What size fuel tank did everyone put in here? I have been trying to measure it out to different manufacturer's sizes to figure out what one to get. Seems like I might be able to squeeze a 2 oz'er in there for the .074 norvel.

Thanks!

Hello seanucd, A 2oz. sullivan round fits fine. The .074 is a hell of a lot of engine for this plane. You will probably do most of your flying at 2/3 throttle and under. I have a .061 in mine and it has PLENTY of power. The rudder is nice for stall turns, knife edge, and all the other rudder sceanrios but it's not necessary. If your giong to be using HS81's you will have to do away with the rudder or go with a different servo configuration as there is not enough room in the fuse for the side by side stack shown on the plan.

Nice, 074 it is then

So what servos do I need then? H55's? I have new 81's I can put in it, but I want to get that thing flying, and always can use extra servos as an excuse to buy some other plane! I will mess with the servos tonight, but yes, if it works, it will sure be tight in there. This is my first 1/2A, so it is kind of fun being able to build a plane in your lap.

I also have a dean's micro antenna for it. Is it safe just to run that down the back of the fuse? Or should i make it come out in the wing or something? I haven't used one of those before. I thought I would give one a try since the antenna wire is twice as long as the plane, and I hate seeing antenna wires anywhere outside the plane.

Thanks for the help! I am anxious to get it up.

I've had mine S400 powered, Cox .049 Killer Bee, and a TT .07, I think the Cox was best. I put the servo in the wing, no rudder, glassed the nose with light stuff. CA hinges on everything. Since after buying/building the first, I scratch build new fuses, since they can destroy themselves on a good landing. Next, I'll cut my own thin MH airfoil, and see how fast they go...Great fun for $29.99!!!

I just threw out that cheesy aileron linkage deal. I thought the crimped brass tubes with the hole were solered on already, but they weren't. I am going to try to mount the aileron servo in the wing next. What servo did you use for that? I can only imagine what a hassle it would be to take the wing off with the aileron servo in the fuse like that.

I am going to axe the rudder too. I have aerobatic planes for hammerheads! Besides, this thing will never be able to knife edge like one of my profiles!

SEC, I used the supplied aleron linkage and it works fine. It's not hard to get the wing on on off. I ran the charging plug forward so I remove the forward hach to charge. This means the wing almost never comes off. I don't know if the deans will work or not mounted internaly as I've never used one. I routed my antena through a small plastic tube ( to keep it from rubbing on the E/R push rods) and out the back of the fuse. I used some JR micro servos I had, but hS 55's would be fine but if your doingaway with the rudder you will have plent of room.
