Status: offline 		Hi chaps...thought you"d like to see my 80" He129...plan was blown up from a smaller 55" hand-launced job......I"m currently writing the review for RC Scale International, the plan will be published very shortly, the plane flies beautifly o two OS 54 Surpasses...1/2 throttle gives scale speed.....and really different in the air.....a.u.w=14-15 ibs.......washout built into the foam wings....lands like a baby......and takes standard 90% retracts........

That is one nice plane! Like StefenP, I want to know more about this design, as well. Which retracts were used? ABS or 'glass parts and canopy available? I want one of these!!!

....the cowls are abs....on the prototype I got some "blanks"....sports type, that can be bought readily...also purchased some extra 12" sheets of more abs to extend them to the correct length......inside is then coated with light cloth and soaked with thin cyno.....this strengthens them greatly..
....the canopy is very easily made from scratch...no curves...everthing is straight....I"ll get a couple more pics up....and have a full set of building pics if anyone wants them....fell free to e-mail me if you need help......the plan will be available from Traplet Publications shortly...
plane has now got 35 flights on it.......one dead-stick....chopped the live engine and glided in.......seen it soon enough, and not a problem....it really is a good flyer....and a mean looking tank killer as well........nice size too......not tooo big for transport....and still has that "presence" in the air...deffinately different......and very cheap to make....wait to you see the fuse parts count.......

If you're up to a complete build report, I'd love to see it! Do us a favor, though. When the plans are published, post a link to the magazine on this site so those of us in the states may have access to them for order. I'm not able to get that mag where I live.

Status: offline 		OK..I"ll make a stsrt!!......here"s the main details of the project..
Henschel 129 single seat Tank Buster/Ground attack WWII
Span...86"
Target Weight....14-15lbs
Power...two 52/60 f/strokes
Fuse...built up....wing...foam core....tail surfaces...built up
Wing area...1"044 sq ins
Wing loading....43oz per sq ft.
The main thing to remember with this...and any...project is to keep things light......the fuse will have barely any weight at all......no need to go beefing things up either......as you will see...the way that the wing braces are done....will ensure that all laods, ie...engine...and retracts....will all be interlocked so that the landing loads....engine bearers etc....will be spread around.........right then...first pic....
1/8 sides.....1/2" triangular stock....some 3/16 doubler [wing seat]......and lightened 1/16 ply......very little parts needed to get you going.....I"ve arrowed in the lightning holes on the ply......every bit counts.....

Status: offline 		Clifford your to kind.One thing that is nice about this plane is that the fuse is not round with many compound curves.Also it is a subject that isn't modeled that often.Please advise when the plan will be published. thanxs ,stefanP

...no problem posting the pics and telling the story of the build....that"s what forums are for!....I"ll keep posting away, every night or so...then you can save them for when the plan comes out....don"t worry about getting the plan...or a copy of the review....I"ll sort that out for you at this end!!.....only have the introduction writtten out so far......but the masterplan is with the editor at Traplet.....he"s just waiting on me getting the typing done..
As you said the fuse...yep very easy.....just keep it straight...I found it easier to keep the forward ply former to the last....tightish bend here so so the rear first...
After the front end is pulled in, then scrap balsa block is added to allow for the cannon troughs.....remember to add some to the inside as well...this will allow you to have extra material to carve out, and not end up with holes/slits in the troughs.....lot of carving and sanding, but this area is where the 129 gets all it"s character from......

Status: offline 		Couple more pics....the tail surfaces are simple built up ....1/16 sheet core...for fin/rudder/elevators....the guy that cut my wings for me did me a set of stabilizers....you can build them up as well...details on the plan....

..yep...she"s a mean son-of-a-b***h !!!.....a kind of "warped" beauty....but it"s in the same league as it"s single engined brother the Stuka......an extremly effective killing machine......in the air it"s really nice !!!!....on the ground you think it"s going to bite you!!
Another plus is that the cowls are standard "sports" type blanks.....with balsa detailing added...[under nacelles etc]......the white arrow shows the bit added on for proper length.....spinners.....Brian Taylor FW 190 does the job.........and 4" FW190 wheels suit her as well.......

Status: offline 		...right then...more pics...here"s the carbon elevator push-rod, no slop is a must....with the long fuse and leverage to consider, then the wing panels....foam core, and, most importantly...4% of washout cut into them.....next is the nacelle parts....and the 3/8thsq bearers....these will interlock with the forward main spar, and carry the undercarriage load....note the lightning holes even in these......keep her light...

Status: offline 		two more pics.....first shows how to leave the engine line part of spar unlightened..[white arrow].......next pic shows the nacelle sides epoxied in position....care needed here to maintain equal downthrust between the two wings......red area is discarded/cut out....green area shows where 3/8 Triangle is used to tie in the nacelles with the wing spar......is it ok for you?.....

Status: offline 		hello Al....there"s not a set of wings going to made available, but there is lots of people out there to do the job......just take/send, the root / tip templetes, and tell them to add 4% washout......problem solved,.....retracts....I used standard 90% century units.......suppose the cheaper ones will do as well.....use the heavy duty units....and sprung oleos.......helps a lot...the plan shows the correct angle to set them at....ie...wheels retracted=slight off-set......wheels down=straight ahead...same as full size....here"s acouple more pics....I used a little piece of hard rubber between the firewall and mount, to help dampen the virbration a little....also shows the 10 oz tanks......mounted on their side..make sure and adjust the pluming to suit!......

Status: offline 		yep...been very quiet !!!...working some overtime etc etc...it"s true...RCSI is no more...BUT...the plan is finished and will be published in Radio Control Model World, also a Traplet Publication......I guess there"s just fewer and fewer outlets for a "specialist" magazine now......any of you chaps still interested in the 129?....the plan is finished...and will be available very shortly.....
