I'm flying large scale aerobatics, so all my radio gear is for such aircrafts.
What would I need as receivers and servos for 1/2a planes
I have a few Cox .049's and Cox .09 R/C that I would like to put to good use.
Thanks for any info.

A micro RX to start, some people use the gws type, some use hitec feather , FMA or just stick with your futaba brand, there are several others((pay attention to the range they offer, some are very limited, 500ft range is not to much, also most are single convertion but there are double)). A 150mah bat pack or larger, not really important but maybe a micro switch too. Of course some sub micro or micro servos for generic purposes lets say hitec hs-55 or hs-81, you can find the dims and specs on these and then cross them to your favorite brand, futuba, gws, cirrus, expert or hitec as mentioned before. People are using both those type of cox engines you have now. Other options are Norvel, AP.

Hi Roger,

As you know, it depends a little on what kind and size of 1/2a you're planning on using for servo selection, but receivers are pretty straight forward.

I've been using Hitech 555 receivers in my pylon racers and they have been flawless. There are some new ones on the market that are about 1/3 oz. lighter but I haven't gone there... yet.

Servo's.... I've been using the Hitech (sounds like I'm a groupie...) 55's. Again with no problems. Some people express some concerns about the 55's thinking there too light. too small etc. I think these are people who have no hands on experience with them. All of the wrecks I've had have been my fault. Not the fault of my radio gear..... Good flying......

HITECH 555 Rx is the way to go for all around use. I have 4 of them. You can get a full flight pack from HITECH with Rx, batt, switch, and servos in several sizes, all with a 555.

FMA extreme 5 is another really nice reciever, I believe it is a little lighter than the 555. Hans
