Please help me

I am normally into nitro but i have just received a Losi xx4 buggy. i bought a matched pack and was wanting to know how long to charge it for and stuff. I built the battery pack into a saddle pack. The batteries are Sanyo Team integy technologies 2400 professional with vsec tech. I have a hobbico 900 15 minute charger. I was wondering how long it would take to charge the pack....if it will charge at 15 minutes or do i need to invest in a high dollar charger....i dont have the money right now and that is the reason i am asking.

ahhh.. you have a turkey timer battery killer for a charger.

You may need more than one 15 min pass to get the pack up.. depends on the max charge rate that antique can get up to and the amount of charge remaining in your pack.

Hard fast rule of thumb... NEVER leave that pack unattended while its on a timer controlled fast charger. This means you sit there and hold that pack in your hand.. the moment the pack starts to get warm shut off the battery killer.

data point.. a fully charged nicad, unable to store the energy being pounded down it's poor lil throat by that nasty thing you call a charger begins to give off that unstoreable energy as heat.. continued charging beyond full charge can not only kill that pack, it can light yer cottin pickin house on fire. The diffrence between a fully charged nicad and an inferno can be a very few minutes at high charge rates.

Suggestion.. as soon as possible, invest in a peak detection charger. They (hopefully) shut down when the pack is fully charged automaticly.. thus sparing you a fried pack or worse..

Hope this helps, and best of luck with the buggy!

Like hangtime mentioned - do not leave it unattended. That said the 900 will take a little short of 1/2 hour to do 2400 packs from fully discharged. Obviously that means you need to fully discharge your packs before recharging. If it starts to get to warm to comfortably hold in your hand your over charging.
