Anyone blown up a Combat Gremlin or Tufflight Predator?

I was thinking about doing a 1.20 sized just for kicks...
or am I just insane?

Anyone got a 3-view or drawing with some measurements of the original?

Yes Herb,

Sounds like fun
Gremlin span 48"
root chord 14"
tip chord 10.5"
airfoil thickness at root 1 7/8"
1 5/8 at tip
Elevons 1.5"
cg 1 5/8"from LE
does that about cover it
hope this helped.

CrazyHerb,

You can get the plans for the original Gremlin from the RCM plans service. http://www.rcmmagazine.com/store/store-plans-list-1.html?sid=0001on7CV01n5OsZtM4x3X0 It is plan #1134 @ $10. You can take the plans to a print shop and have them blown up to whatever size you need.

I have built a number of Gremlins and loved every one. The original plans were for a .25 size engine. I did put a run out .40 on one once. Did fine.

What do you intend to use for a fuselage? The original was a plastic down spout and I don't think that it would support a big 1.20. I believe that I would consider using a built up balsa/ply fuselage and cover it in fiberglass.

The only criticism that I have of the Gremlin is the elevon servos are mounted in the fuselage and attached to the elevons on the wing. Any time that you catch a wing tip on a landing or cause the wing to separate from the fuselage it is guaranteed that you will jerk the gears out of the servo, break the control horns and/or bust the cases. If I build any more I will mount the servos in the wing.

Keep us posted on how goes the build.
