I am just getting back into RC and hoped that I could get some thoughts from you all about choiices for a good and light engine mount. In the past I mostly used maple rails with blind nuts. Is this still considered a good option? Or is there a particular mount that is popular now? Any thoughts will be very appreciated.
Thanks, John

Even though few kits nowadays incorporate hardwood rails for engine mounting, it is still just as viable as in the old days. Composites are the most popular lightweight engine mounts these day, and depending on the style of rails and on the engine size, you can either use through bolt and locknuts, or drill and tap.

The adjustable ones seem to be the most popular. I like the GP versions, because they are long enough to accomodate 4strokes. I actually like the ones that come with World Models ARFs the best, but I don't know if they are sold through other distributors. I seem to recall Hobby People carry the .90 size, though.
