I need to decide which charger is better. Are they both the same? The orbit is a little more expensive, but not prohibitively so. I would appreciate any comments.....about the chargers!

Bob

I bought the Ginzel Spectra. It will do everything the orbit and shulze will do. The graphing feature with a computer is awesome. You'll be happy with any of the 3.

I had a look at the web pages for the Ginzel, but could not find all the info I wanted. For example, when it has finished charging the battery, does it display how much it actually pumped into the battery ?

Yes, it will report the amount input to battery. With the software option you can graph the charge and discharge curves.

Here's a link for more info: http://www.magtechinc.net/ginzel.htm

Yup - I already took a quick look at that page, but I didn't see where it indicated that the unit reported the total charge, and that it did so on the unit itself, rather than giving you the info only if you use a PC. Maybe it's there and I just missed it.

The most useful feature of the Ultra Duo or Shultze for me, is that I always have immediate confirmation of how much the battery had to be recharged. Since I recharge the ECU battery for my turbines after every flight, I know how much it should take to recharge it every time, and the moment I see a significantly larger amount needed, that raises a red flag. Just wanted to confirm that the Ginzel could also give that info without needing a PC (coz I wouldn't want to take a PC to the field with me all the time - I have more than enough support equipment to carry as it is ! ;-)

Thanx,
Gordon

That pc would fit right with the rest of your equipment!

The spectra reports elapsed time (hh:mm:ss), mah input, and final voltage on the screen.

Good luck with your selection.

Might check www.ezonemag.com search the forums for your charger models. Lots of reading here on chargers.

I have the Orbit w/ PC interface.

It will do exactly what you want (w/o using
a PC). It's really solidly built! Pricing is
close to Schulze (see icare-rc or radical-rc)

The manual is online at orbitronic.de

I have to say that the Ginzi looks ALOT
like a slightly modified version of the good
old 'Supernova'.
