i got a cheap way for seeing if your engine is over heating. when you warmed your truck up spit a bit onto the head of the engine where the glow plug is if it starts to sizzle right away your to hot if it sits there for like 3 secs and starts to sizzle your good

Sounds like your ide speed screw needs to be adjusted, To fix this start the motor and keep it at idle and if it wont run then turn the idle speed adjustment screw in at 1 hour increments untill it idles steady. If the motor is fresh and stops as soon as you pull the glow ignitor off then you may need a new glow plug, new motors are known for popping a plug or two! I made another post recently with the detailed instructions on how to set the idle speed screw on a carb. Heres the link to the post. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Throttle_Linkage/m_2219468/tm.htm

Hope this helps! Jon

If you leaned it out or overheated it too much you may have toasted the piston and sleeve. I did this with a Mach .15 on a XXX NT once and no matter what I did it wouldnt stop over heating. I bought a new piston and sleeve and put it in and broek it in and from then on it was fine. I know your strapped for funds but I would again reccomend getting a temp gun before anything else and that way you can closely monitor the temps while running the motor so you can adjust accordingly. I bought my Duratrax temp gun for 25 bucks off of ebay and it is just as accurate as the Ray-Tech costing 3 times as much that the guys at our track use.

truck still runs ok. it didnt run hot long. i stop it alot and check it for steam coming up and when it has steam coming from it i'll shut it down.. i dont think its leaned out to much because it has smoke coming from it when i give it trottle
