J,
The floats are ok. You have to make sure you seal & waterproof them correctly with glue all the way around. Also the front wire has to be bent so it takes shape and fits correctly.
Then you can just change back to landing gear in a snap.
I also modified the battery compartment. I usually fly with 11.1V 2200's or 2400's ($22.00 on ebay)

Hi to everyone from N/E Arnhem Land NT , spent the last 3 months reading thru this thread and modding my Cessna as suggested by all you guys. Its been a great help, I only break motor shafts! , no foam - yet!! So thanks for all your experiences. It has been almost as much fun modifying/repairing this plane as flying it, first flight with the brushless had my hands shaking! This has (in my eyes anyway) been a great first r/c plane. Once again thanks for everything.

Congrats on that mate! And thanks for taking the time to come back and let us know.

Cheers
-J

SPORN... Thank for the info... My Catalina turned up today... so my water exploits are about to begin... if I like it, I will throw the floats on the Cessna. CHEERS!!

BONJOVI - A lot of us are no longer running the stock setup - so if no one responds, take it to your LHS - I am sure they will help.

Cheers
-J

Any receiver is probably better than the stock receiver.

Yesss!!!!! I have at last finished my motor installation. (After about 3 months .) If the weather holds out I will fly tomorrow. I ran the motor, this thing has power!!! It just wanted to go straight up! I can't wait to fly.
I'll post the video as soon as I can record and 'process' it.

KIWI

P.S: I also purchased a Parkzone Cessna 210 Centurion, it flys great in the backyard.
Heres a link to a my vid of it: Video unfortunately there was a bit of a breeze, not much, but enough to buffet the 18gram plane about a bit.

Anyone have a list of lipos that fit without cutting the battery box?

Well my Hextronic 3C 1700mah sure didn't. I had to cut just over a centimeter out at the front. But the cg was spot on from the word go. (5cm behind leading edge?)

Well. I flew last night and have just got back form another flight. This is what I think of it: The brush-less mod makes so much difference, more power etc. Also I have had No radio glitches even though I am still using stock rc gear. I think the glitches I was experiencing before is to do with the motor sucking away all the power. However now because I can cruise at 1/3 throttle. The video that I have just uploaded is the first flight, no aeros or anything. Like I said before, I have just flown another battery pack and started to do some aerobatics. I'll upload that video either tonight or tomorrow. I have also learned my lesson about altitude but the extra power certainly helps. (I can do multiple loops now.)

Thats all for now.

P:S Heres a link to that vid: Video

How low were those clouds!!! Tried out the infamous Lawn Dart manouvre last weekend and nailed it spectacularly . Definitely have to protect the battery from the screws sticking thru the firewall, pierced 2 cells and wrote off the battery . The worst thing is nothing else broke and this weekend has been the best flying weather I have seen since living here, clear skies and not enough breeze to ruffle a palm frond
