Status: offline 		After destroying 2 x 2408 and 1 2409-12(leaving me with no power source to fly!) I raided my Falcon 3D heli for its in runner to see if it would work. It fit almost perfectly in the can motor mount. I went ahead knowing that it is VERY wrong to run a 3500kv motor with a plane prop, but sometimes the best way to learn is to try it yourself. I thought I would play it safe and run the smallest prop I had, the stock Arttech/Ego 7x4, the blades nearly folded themselves forward!!! Needless to say the whole flight was .... sprightly!. (it only lasted about 5mins as the sun was going down and the wind picking up) After talking to the Hobby shop they said DONT DO THAT! so I will pull it back out and hope the new 2409 is here by the weekend. This Cessna is indestructible!!!!!!!!

Status: offline 		I finally upgraded my radio system and flew to day. I went fot the futaba 7c 2.4ghz. What a difference! So much more locked in and much easier to fly. The cessna is better then ever!!

Status: offline 		Is anbody using a brushless inrunner in their 182? If so what are you using: motor size, esc, prop size, prop adapter? Is there a motor that will clamp into the original motor mount? Any input would be appreciated.

Status: offline 		To use an inrunner you will need a gearbox as well, I reckon you will have to fabricate a new mount to make it all fit. Maybe you can find a mount online or at your hobby store that will fit or can be adapted.

did you look at other 2.4ghz systems? Ive been looking at the Spektrum DX6 but dont know too much about any of them, Im still running the stock gear and its been reliable so far but I need more channels. Also does anyone know if you can buy just the control rods for the elevator and rudder anywhere?

Status: offline 		There is a guy on Ebay based in Australia who seems to have most spares. His username is iarmstro(75) He also seems to go under the name of Power Master RC.

I'm also looking at 2.4 Ghz systems, cannot decide between the Fubutu and the Spectrum, although the DX6i looks good due to its relative low price.

Status: offline 		I looked at both and what made me go for futaba is the added security of channel switching and also I had read some not so good reports on the spectrum. It was a fairly close match though. The futaba only had one problem thats been sorted now anyway but I had read about quite a few with the Spectrum. In the end its all down to personal choice i guess. Hope this helps.

It's been a while since I posted so I thought I would drop in and say hello!

My Cessna is still going strong. It is a far better plane now that I run two aileron servos... I would recommend you all do this!

Also... I am about to strip it all back and give it a new paint job. I bought myself an airbrush and have been attacking my planes.. Here is my Bipe

ASH - I have a DX7 and love it. I have no reason to fault it at this point. I do however, only use the DX6200 Full Range RXs... but that may just be me being over cautious!

Thanks for the info on the 2.4 Ghz systems, it sounds like they are both ok it will probably be just a matter of price to me.

As an aside, when I upgraded to a brushless setup I always had the feeling that the Cessna was not trimmed properly. I adjusted the C of G and raised the rear of the wings etc. but it never felt right. So last weekend I went back to basics, set all controls to exactly the null position, C of G to it's correct position and then trimmed the plane by adjusting the position of the motor. i.e. shimming it to point up/ down and left/right. After a bit of trial and error the improvement was dramatic. It now flies a treat, much better balanced and easy to control at all speeds.

I really like how you can slow her down and relax, or juice it and almost tear her wings off!!

Status: offline 		Ash99 - what JohnM (Mongrel) says is right, the DX7 is excellent, but if you are on a budget or want some extra cash for planes look at the DX6i, which comes with the full range AR6200 RX. If you fly at a club you'll probbly be asked to use a full range Rx (whatever make you decide on). The cheapest I could find is 99 pounds Stirling (my pund sign isn't working!!!!) and its that price at most LHS or on the net - don't pay more. Status: offline 		JohnM - I'll have to check the exchnge rate, but if the Au$ is about the same as the American greenbacks then the AR6200 is the same price as the LHS site I posted earlier. That site was also free postage if order over 35 pounds Stirling, but the beauty of it is they have some other tasty bits and pieces to add to your free postage order (ESC's, motors, sundris and great
