Yes make it a 4 ch plane , your best beat might be to buy the 4ch wings so all the hard work is done for you ! Im using my own 6ch Tx and Rx and judging by what a few people of the forums are saying you are better off to get your own radio gear ! The rudder servo you were going to use for your ailerons is doesnt have enough torque you will need to buy a slightly bigger servo .I bought the 4ch plane and the servo in that is the next size up from the rudder/elevator servo hence more torque ! Im also running my dual rate on on my elevator as there is a lot movement in the stabalizer its set to about 70% it make a big differance ,The best thing you could do is to buy yourself a better radio and at least 6ch { am using a futaba 6XAS it does all models ,Aero/Heli/Sail}.Im also using some of the mixing features the radio has to offer and it works well for this plane .hope this helps !

Thanks for the info.I will make the plane a four channel.I strip the airplane last night and see that they used a four channel receiver with is a bonus.I was thinking of getting bigger servo's because those little things is not going to cut it.About the wing,going to keep the 3 channel wing.Got my own idea how to put in ailerons that will be strong and wont fail me.Its almost going to work the same way as the gas trainer.Got a four channel tx for my gas trainer(JR).Will just use the same frequency.Its going to take me about a month to fix the plane and mod as i would like it.I will send pictures as soon as its finish.My only problem is the plastic cover in front.
Need to replace that,and don't know where i will get one.What do you mean by (Im also running my dual rate on on my elevator)? Is it dual servo's on the elevator?

The only problem I see you having by adding bigger servos is weight ! we all know that for a park flier weight is the major issue and we try to keep that down as low as possible ! I know it doesnt seem like much but adding a few grams here and there and suddenly the whole flight charactiristics change .What I ment by Dual rates on your transmitter there should be two switches one marked ELE.D/R { elevator dual rate switch } and the other marked ALI.D/R { Aileron Dual rate switch } what these two switches do is allow you to set up a value on the TX { wether it be in the menu or on a pot } that when the switch is in the "on "position it is limiting the amount of movement that the servo gives , When the switch is in the "off " position you are using the full range of the servo .I have my Tx set up as follows .... elevator Dual rate "on" giving me about 70% of the total amount of throw avalible to me I dont use the Aileron dual rate .all it does is help limit the amount of movement the servo gives .I hope this helps ,to my knowledge all 4+ch Tx's should have dual rate switches its wether its set in the menu or manually { usaully behind the battery case where the Tx batteries are installed but I might be wrong on that one } I do know that you cant buy a new cowl { front plastic bit } { well at least in New zealand you cant }you have to get a whole new fuselarge as they { art-tech } dont sell them seperatly for some strange reason they must have thourght you'll need a new fuselarge before you need a new cowl .

No,won't put big servo's in.Will keep the weight in mind.One thing that i want to ask,on the main wing you can insert ailerons on the inner of the wing or the outer of the wing as been seen on pictures on this site.What do think is the best way?

Status: offline 		Hello everybody I am new to this forum so please be nice lol,

I got my Cessna 182 RTF a few days ago now and what can I say it’s great. This is my first r/c plane and I love it. Every time I take it out I crash it but is that not part of the fun rebuilding it? I think I have sellotape everywhere on the plane now and its only 4 days old, I will run this down to the ground then order some more parts for it but I think I need lots of practise first. This forum has been great for tips and stuff so thanks to everybody.

Right, back to sticking some wings together

But I do have one Problem

I stupidly broke my aerial on my transmitter does anybody know what type of transmitter it is because I need a replacement aerial, is it a Futaba? I need somewhere in the UK where I can get a replacement. Here is a link to the aerial in the USA but they will not ship to the UK 

Ok when making Ailerons they always go on the outer wing ,the inner control surface is called the flaps they are mainly used for landing to help slow the plane down and lower the stall speed .You dont have to have them but I made my own as I wanted the scale look of the cessna and they are great for landing ! you have two ways of building the aileron system for this plane 1/ is to have two servos driving the surface ie one servo drives the right hand aileron and the other does the same but for the left hand side .2/ use the cut out section where { if you had bought the 4ch version } aileron servo is surpose to go .I would go for option two as thats what the manufacture has found to work the best for this plane . you will notice a huge difference with your plane when flying with ailerons much more responce ! but they are a handful if you have never learnt to fly with ailerons before and I would surgest doing some time on the old flight sim before hand ! all the best .

The problem i have is that you only get the 3 channel in South Africa at the moment.Still busy making the plane in to 4 channel. I sent in my receiver(3 channel plane but has a 4 channel receiver)to replace the crystal to work of my JR tx.That will fix my 4 channel problem.Oder a new tail and back wing.Broke mine after trying to remove it.Thanks for the info on the aileron.Already got a plan on how i am going to do the ailerons.Its going to be very stable.The plane is going to take me about a month to fix,but i am taking my time.I want every thing 100%.And i know it will fly better then before.Its not my first time building a plane so have idea how it works. (hopefully)Also modding the plane alot.So it will look a bit differed of the original.Will send pictures when its finished.From the Flight sim,I only fly the plane using the ailerons.Did some quality time with that flight sim.But its not 100% the same as the real thing.

Status: offline 		I'm glad I found this thread. I have the horizontal and verticle stab glued into place and am going to tape the wings, etc. tonight. I was wondering if anybody knows of a plane within FMS or otherwise that flys like this one? I've been flying the skysport in FMS but the rudder does barely anything while airborne.

Also, I used to fly a 3 channel plane a few years ago, but haven't flown in a while. I have the 4 channel cessna and was going to freeze the ailerons with tape and disconnect the servo for the first few flights to get back into the swing of things. Does this plane steer well with just the rudder? Does it turn quickly on it, or does it need a lot of space?

I'm thinking about purchasing the wing/radio/servo combination to make it a 4-channel plane.
That's my next step as a newbie.

Status: offline 		Those flaps look nice. I have the 4 channel version of this plane and was wondering what all is involved in making the flaps. Obviously I'll need to cut them out and place them on hinges; I'm talking about what type of servo and how do you set up the linkages etc. I'm going to be buying a 7 channel radio soon, so I'll need something to use those extra channels on...

Also, when I go to replace the electronics in the plane, what servos should I use to replace them with? This is only my second plane, my first being one from a few years ago (an aerobird). So I don't have any experience with modifications. By the way, here is the radio I'm getting. I'll get a receiver that will handle what I want to do. I just need some advice on the other things.

I also bought some flashing lights (red and green). They are on double sided tape and have their own battery etc. Is there an easy way to make these activate from the Tx or should I just not mess with it and stick with the built in micro switches?

has any one picked up that there are 2 motor versions for this plane?? a 480 motor and a 380 motor, it might explain some of the performance diferances
