Next got the tailwheel assembly mounted and hooked up..Also added the World Models tri-horn on all surfaces...these little control horns work well and I like them...Then I mounted a Hitec Low Profile Retract Servo...Works like a champ...

Then I had FUN ; ) by applying some Custom Cut Vinyl Graphics by Graphics Signs Construction MIKE BOST (let me know if you want his contact info...he is good and very reasonable on prices...) ...I didn't want to use the WM decals(star/bars) that were included as they are the wrong color of blue, wrong size and look cheap...

I fuel proofed the aileron servo mounting plates as well as the aileron wells in the wings...After they dried some I mounted the servos with the supplied balsa wedges..I added some lite ply to the wedges so the servo screws could bite and hold..I used the supplied servo clevis/pushrod clevis as they seem fine for this size plane..Tomorrow I will drill and add the screws to hold down the hatches...Almost DOne...... Still need to mount servos in fuse, receiver/battery, run throttle pushrod , mount switch/charge jack, glue in cockpit, paint canopy, add gear door covers, final mount cowling/screws, Balance and FLY!!!!!!! Aiming for a Test Hop Tuesday schedule and weather Permitting............Stay tuned ....Full Pics of plane on gear coming...

OK Wing is totally finished.. Got to the last of the painting tonite..Masked off the canopy and finished gluing in the cockpit...Tuesday will finish mounting the servos in the fuse ,adjust throws, and then screw on canopy/cowling...I found that she will balance right on the money at 128mm from LE at fuse per instructions by moving my battery behind the servo tray rearward in the fuse,,,Hope to Maiden Tuesday afternoon as I am off all day ; ) I'll post pics....

So I test Flew "Little Freddie" today...Perfectly Blue skies, light wind... Gassed him up and away he went...even with the small tires/wheels the WM P-51D handled the grass nicely..little bit of rudder kept it tracking straight down the grassy runway.. Lift off wasnt a problem...Needed quite a bit of right trim..and some down...Might be due to my larger than recommended motor?? Using the OS 61 FX vs a 46 FX,,,hmmm...Anyhow,,,flew around after trimming made several low passes for my imaginary crowd...and photo passes for all the press..; ) OOps dead stick 10 minutes had passed and I was out of fuel...No "Jerry's" in sight so I headed into the farmers field and hoped the resistance would pick Hutchins up ......No problem....glideded in like a low wing trainer...even with the additional weight of the 61 FX...Before a 2nd flight I did a complete check to ensure nothing had rattled loose or had become unglued? I then noticed that the throttle pushrod had "melted" and only about 1/3 of it remained..oops never had that happen...Guess I will use a diferent method for throttle pushrod instead of golden rod insulated by the Red sleeve...Really never had one melt...guess it was too close to muffler...Oh well Test Hop was fun...Since I was the only one out there I got to have my Radio Blaring Classic ROCK..Fun times...I'll have to fix this throttle issue fast as I want to fly several missions this weekend... By the way Does any one know the Correct CG Balance Point.I was able to balance at recommended CG/balance point by moving my battery....I feel as though it may be a little tailheavy at the recommended 128mm from wing root where wing meets fuse...I can't remember where mine was set at that I flew 3 yrs ago...Please advise...

Good choice. I met Freddies CO during WWII. LT C.I Williams. They graduated from the same class. This is him with me and the full scale C model mustang and my model of "Little Freddie" Great job on your plane.
