It looks like Lewis Patten is flying one of the huge f-18's that my friend owns the rights to and that Century is going to kit. Any news on how it flew? Hope all went well way to go Skip if that one is yours.

The giant F-18 got a little loose on take off and climbed out very slow. It seemed that it was too heavy. Once in the air it flew great and looked awesome! The landing gave a good scare to a few of us, she got into some pretty good oscillations and it seemed like the pilot was chasing her, she hit the runway fairly hard and I think it broke one of the main struts.

There was a Bd5 being flown by rick fusco of atlanta, P-80, converted from a byron kit i think.

The Mig 21 is from DL areo-models. P-80, VERY fast, Flew great, A little hard for me to see though. Looked to be about 85" long or so. Russ

Unfortunatly, the Airpac/Skymaster BAE Hawk prototype suffered a radio/battery problem on final just above the runway and hit the pavement hard.

What type of radio/battery problem did it suffer?

it is in Metropolis, NW corner of the city. I believe you take 45 off 24 headed west through town. As you start to leave the city, you will see the airport sign on your right. K.

I belive they said it was either a voltage regular or servo reverser on the flaps don't know which one but it hit a ton, hated to see it happen as the plane was looking and flying great in the air.

The new Century Jet Models F-18 Super Hornet.

This is one Hugh bird. The flying stabs look like barn doors. Power is an AMT Olympus, and all up weight with fuel is 55 lbs... it was weighed.

The Skymaster F-18 was beautiful, I'm undecided on getting it or the upcoming F-22 for my next project.

Fabulous pics so far!!

I gotta agree ,Skymaster's quality is outstanding & their customer service is about the best I have come across so far(including every merchant market I have purchased from). They will pretty much do whatever it takes to make you happy & remedy any potential problems one may have. The F18 is one beautiful ARF ,and it is Bigger in person that most would imagine it to be.Unless sitting right beside a YA Twin 18 is doesnt appear much smaller.

Keep the Superdude pics coming guys, looking good so far

First time I saw this plane was at this years Bay of Quinte jet rally. If it's the same one, it was designed and built by Jean-Guy Rochfort from Quebec, Canada. Several examples have been built from the molds, some DF powered, some turbine powered. The DF powered example flew at BoQ, and flew well. The turbine powered example was not quite ready.

The first picture was taken by Andrew Coholic. Jean-Guy is the gentleman on the left.

The second and third pictures are my own.

Regards,
...jim

Dean,
Attendance was about 150 registered pilots. Jerry Caudle says this is just about the ideal number from his point of view. They were allowing up to 7 airplanes in the air at a time and I would guess that on Friday there were on average 5 to 7 planes up at once. Total recorded flights on Friday were 372. Plenty of action but not so crowded that you had to wait long for the pin or a flight station. A little chilly in the mornings and a bit windy on Saturday but overall very nice weather.

As usual, a well run and enjoyable event.

Craig

Woketman, just got home from Superman so sorry for the delayed response ... the chrome canopy on my kingcat is a chrome coating via a low temp vacuum process. The canopy was then masked off and the frame painted red. A large crack in the top of it was provided by UPS (at no extra charge) so I debated on whether to do another one or go with the blue box cockpit/pilot (which I ended up doing.) Right now I fly with the chrome and "hangar queen" with the blue box one. Having to fool around with both is getting old, so I may be going to just the blue box one. If you want more details about the canopy just PM me.

Thanks for the compliment, Tim. It was good talking to you on Sat.

Thanks for posting the pics, Eric and Lt Dan! It was a great time ... great job by all the organizers! I'll be back next year for sure.

Jamie
