I run into a problem with the threaded gears over 23t. At that point instead of having a 12mm hole they have a 16mm hole. Do they have like a piece of pipe that's threaded inside and outside that is 12mm-16mm? The bigger gears are made for the r40 with the different clutch set-up. I really don't want to have to try and find all those parts piece by piece.

MOst clutch bells are very interchangeable with smartech. I fyou have an idea how many teeth you want. I have several in my shop and will be happy to measure against a Smartech and sell you cheap. Email at jaimepn@yahoo.com

Thanks

I would like to see 23t/28t. If i can find an adapter like I want i could go 24t/29t. It would have to be fine threaded inside and out 12-16mm. It's just a simple thread adapter but a pain in the butt to find.

I just got the d&a car in. Same thing as smartech. It isn't even technically a d&a, it's a victory hawk. d&a must have bought them out.

This is going to sound funny. I want to hook up some model rocket engines to the back of this thing. Figured out two switches already. One would fire when you first hit the gas and the next would be run off another servo from a 3ch radio set(old reverse for revo). I know it sounds funny but it might be cool..lol My question is how much would be too much as far as thrust? I bought 4 different size rockets ranging from around 2lbs of thrust to around 10lbs of thrust. I'm thinking a small one for the take off and a couple bigger ones when i hit second. Anyone tried or even heard of this before? Do you think it will work? Any idea's? I came up with the idea when I was young but most of those blew up. lol

I went and watched the you tube video's and that isn't even close to what I want to do. I would have mine running and completely controlled by the remote. Not only that but I plan on actually making a rear shock tower out of carbon fiber that you can actually mount the rockets to. I wouldn't use tape. lol Three d12 rockets, one primary, two secondary. Most of what I saw on youtube was either fireworks or chassis with the rockets(no engine). I'm Talking about getting my car to pull 55mph without the rockets and hit them at top speed. The only way you'll see the rockets when I'm done is from the rear. I had to cut the back off the body so they have a clear path. If it's worth doing it's worth doing right. I'll try to get some pics in my gallery when parts start arriving. I'll keep you posted..

I'm still going to need a clutch bell bigger then 18t/23t to try to get the car to pull over 55mph without the rockets. Is there anything out there?

Anyone know the difference between the clutch we have on our smartechs vs. the clutches on a r40 or mtx3 or mtx4. What are the pro's and con's? I can get the gearing I want but I'll have to switch to the other clutch set-up. Opinions?

Most of the clutches on the market are somewhat similar in design and funtion. Clutch bells are slightly different. MTX3 uses a 2 shoe clutch similar to the SMARTECH and they offer different clutch shoes "soft, hard, etc.. and different springs to increase the tuning options. ( I have several "new" sets of shoes if anyone would like to try them, some of the compounds are very expensive the others are similar to regular clutch shoes. The MTX4 and R40 use a CENTAX type clutch and offers the most tuning options. All of these clutches were designed for use with a SG shaft on the engine, you may be able to use a regular shaft, however I would get a few packages of clutch shimming kits before. If you bought one of these clutches complete they could be made to work on the SMARTECH cars. Good Luck!

Found one complete kit for the R40 but the day after I bid on it the retard took it off auction...?????? I did end up finding a full kit for the mtx4 though. Does anyone know what size gears it takes? Is it the same as the r40(12mm 1st, 16mm 2nd)? I'm assuming it will at least accept the mtx3 gears. I hope..lol.. I guess I'll find out when it shows up..

How would you use a starter box on one of these? Bigger flywheel? Shorter engine mounts? Part #'s?

i think the rubber wheel on the starter box will hit the smartech's fly wheel the way it is.

ok, so it has come time for me to get rid of my car, as I need a bigger tank for my SW fish. I'll refresh the pics tomorrow, but if you feel like searching, pics can be seen back in the page 50's area. car hasn't been used for over a year, but has been sitting with after-run oil in it, indoors on display. stay tuned. someone will get a STEAL.

will not ship outside USA, so don't waste my time.

specs tomorrow, PST, USA.
