Is that common for smartech motors to blow up? Did anyone get a chance to look at these two ebay cars. This one is 2 speed 5944436437 And this one is 1 speed 5943648405 Should i buy either one of these?

The item 5944436437 looks indeed like a smartech on road nitro, but it doesn't say so on the box. Anyway, it looks just like the Winner 1, with some changes (for instance the tuned pipe is not the same, neither is the chassis).

Item 5943648405 is indeed a smartech, but one speed only.

Try www.smartechracing.com for more details ontheir products.
As I said before, the two speed is quite fun, if you don't spend more time fixing than driving.

THANKS,

I think it's faster (I only have a two speed, so nothing to compare to), but it adds another assembly to the car which contains parts that may break or wear out. Anyway, I'm having quite some fun with mine.

Well guys i blew the smartech motor up. i broke the rod?!?!?!?! I is also bent from the crank pin coming around and slapping it into the block. Fun Fun. Probably cause it had a rustang body on it. Well i need a new motor. Does anybody have an extra laying around they want to sell for cheap? I would like either an old o.s. or the same smt .15 smartech motor. Please let me know if you have a motor laying around that you want to get rid of or i might even put my plane .40 in it It would take some modification but well worth it!!!

How many fuel you burned before it broke? I hope my engine will last... For now I have one quarter of gallon burned and I'm not so gentle with it

crazystang If they are an onroad nitro car, I love mine. I think the motor got too hot thats why the rod got weak and probably broke. I saw 95 *C on the venom temp monitor. I think either one you get will be good. The motors on the smartechs are pretty powerful considering the price of the whole car. If you want to get into the hobby these are great starter cars. BTW smartech does make a 2-speed. ve heard they are quite fast actually!

hardtech: I havent had even a quart through it. I dunno if it was setup wrong from the factory or what, All of the sudden it started running hot. So i richend it up and it went poof! Anyways i dont think i would get this one fixed. Here is what broke/happened.

1. Rod broke at bottom of journal.
2. crank pin came around and smacked the rod and bent the rod badly.
3. Crank pin has melted metal on it.
4 crank pin looks to be bent a little.
5. part of the piston skirt is broke off.

I think it would just be better to get a new motor.

Strange, you seem to not have the good part numbers.
Look at the pic.
For your parts:
www.excelhobby.com
www.exportpro.biz
on ebay smartechaccessories sells parts

I'm sure there is other site like Acme I think.

My magic wheel arived!! Im well impressed so far.....well i haven't actually any fuel to run it yet but it looks cool!. After all the ****ing in the mt forum and ppl saying u can bend the chases by hand etc i was a but worried but as i assumed its very well built and looks like a good model. There are obvious places where they have skimped tho, the stickers where full of bubbles and applied totally of line and un symmetrically. The suspension is reall saggy, If i push the truck chasis to the floor it doesn't really recoil back up, it stays like an inch away from the floor, but when u pull it all the way up it is about the height of a coke can off the floor. Then again I don't know just how springy they are meant to be having never had 1 to mess with before. The servos also seem a little week. The controller is a bit cheap also.

The proof is in the pudding tho is in the running so I'm getting early to get to the shop for fuel. I'll Tell you what i think when iv had a bash ;-)

P.s what fuel mix should i buy and how should i run it in?

Cheers (p.s.s. if my posts are to boring please tell me and il shorten them!)
