    Ray,

The 150 will be more than enough for scale aerobatics and I would recommend a 17X6 prop and 10% nitro to start. The APC 17X6 has a nice wide cord for good down line breaking at low throttle settings and at full throttle the speed will be close to scale, if you like that sort of thing.

My 155 was perfect on this plane and with the 18X6 it was the best. I don't think the 150 will tolerate that prop.

Please let us know how the robo struts fit the wire gear, snug or loose.

    Ray,

Got 17 min. last thursday on my 24 oz. tank....last flight of the day. Mostly conserving fuel.. even on take off..at just 30 percent throttle. Am running Omega Four Stroke, no heli fuel needed as I don't do the helicopter tricks. I just add throttle when needed. Then had enough to taxi in and shut down on the apron to the pits. Not enough left to even prime the fuel pump so it was just running on fumes.

Your 150 will do just fine, in fact am comtemplating a second Super Chippy with what you have going in yours.

    DinD....GSNut

Which struts did you order from Robart, if I may ask...........I think I may go that way also on nr. 2

    GSNut,
The Robart struts are available from Tower (ROBQ0539) and are specific to the GP Chippy. Got mine yesterday. They will add approx 7oz to the model's overall weight--but they are very cool.

DinD/GSNut, Same as GSNut ordered and only thing I can add is the
    price $95.99 plus shipping.

GSNut, Real curious as too how the installation went, good fit on the landing gear stubs etc??
Any way you could post a photo of the finished installation??

    Thanks,
    Ray

Don't know as I haven't ordered them.....it was news to me when you mentioned them.
I did do a search on that part nr. and came up with :

    http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=ROBQ0539&FVPROFIL=++&search3=Go

It's a possibility that a new set of pants may be required or some deft remodeling of the attachment points on the orginal pants be redone. They do look good.

Personally, am more in the mind of a major purchase of the Enco 7 in. metal lathe at $399.00 to produce my own struts, retracts and such like.. Reason being is I have several projects that require those items i.e. The Super Duellist 260, The Dos Steed P-51D, Top Flite's Giant Scale P-51D ! Harbor Freight has the same lathe under the Central Machine label for those interested. Enco Machine is:

    http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=110-0800&PMPXNO=1617068&PARTPG=INLMK3

Sierra and Wabo have HD Scale retracts for the Warbirds but are +$6++.++ just for the main gear.. just a thought though. Don't need retracts on the Chippy just some decent struts.

    Cheers

The new struts are set up to have the pants bolt to the strut, note the mounting plates.

I've still not got my chipmunk in the air yet Good news, I've found an Ohio RC model Chipmunk that I'm picking up this weekend that's RTF. Almost the same except it's in the Pepsi Scheme.

Great on the Ohio Chipmunk, Gent I fly with has one of original Ohio Chipmunks and it's his
favorite. If I remember right he has a total of 4 Chipmunks.

What do you have or going to put in for power??

    Hee........Lucky !!

Though there is something nagging my memory of the Pepsi Chippy (I like it Too !) and am thinking that the Cowl looks a lot like the Cap 232's am wondering...if

So went to Tower and looked up the Super Chipmunk and the Cap 232 and checked the dimentions.... width and height is identical but the Caps cowl is longer.

Now am wondering if the fire wall contors are even Close...hummmm?

    Speculation...........

If I order another Super C. 1.20 and when I refurbush my orginial Chipmunk I could do the Pepse Scheme on it and use the Cap cowl........??????????? Or see the Maroney Super Chipmunk below for alternate scheme.. Maybe GP will come out with the Super C 1.20 in the Pepsi Scheme in the future with some gentle suggestive emails on their website. I know I would go for a couple is they did.

    Cheers

Here it is. Has a Saito 150 in it so it's my first 4-stroke as well. I'm also getting a Sig Extra RTF from him as well. The plane also comes with an extra fiberglass cowl that's unpainted. Might need to try it out on my GP chipmunk

That's a very nice Pepsi Chipmunk. I have one each Ohio R/C super and trainer kits. They both have the original vinyl graghics, multi layercolor The cowls from the Ohio kits will not fit the GP. The sides of the Ohio are squared off.

Picked up the chipmunk and extra today. Sky's right on, the sides of the Ohio kit is square. I do have a spare cowl but it's not even close to fitting the GP model. I'll try to get some better picks but after seeing the Pepsi scheme in person and with the photos the seller included of the full scale plane, it would be an awesome scheme for GP to offer as an alternative.
