The super chipmunks have always been good. Also decent with aerobatics.

Hey Plane Jim Do you want to part with those Robart Struts? Very sorry to hear about your loss and too bad they have been discontinued....even though you can still find them here and there. Take care...Jerry

I think I had sent him a PM about those struts already, but never heard back! lol

I had seen that TOwer listed the plane DIsct. and then I kept going back to there website to see if they got anymore in, and then I saw it up wth the "Limited quanities" and wouldn't you know, as soon as I got done buying it...... It went backto a "Disct." status!......

I am sure that there are many other Chipmunks for sale on the web, just not at the wonderfull price Tower had them listed at..

    Skypilot_one....
Not sure about the rocker thing....???/ don't own one.....
I would ask that question in the Saito gas forum...... The would know, if you were actually curious about that???????

I am sorry I have been out of pocket-I do still have the struts already mounted on the gear-thanks, We have come to the conclusion that the pcm reciever went into fail-safe and the engine came to idle and it rolled over on its back about 150 feet up

I was looking at the Super chipmunk that JIM “FANG” MARONEY flys....
I didn't notice it untill I actually looked at the real plane.....
The cowl on (the real plane) definiatly has a shape very simular to my cap 580!....
It seems that the cowl on the GP chipy has a little too wide under the airscoops, and that might make it look like the cowl doesn't droop down enough......

    I recieved my plane today....
The packaging came loose and the alum bar rattled on the fuse cracking on the the side scoops...
The cowl cracked on the back side becase they got the "bright" idea of placing ALL the junk in the cowl and not somewhere else.....
TOO much weight in there cracked it up...

I have a NEw cowl and FUse when thye come back int stock....

Tower rocks..... They will sed it out....

    Justin

There were several styles of cowls on Chipmunks. The Pepsi Chipmunk had a cowl similar to a Cap. The Krier cowl was from a Beechcraft. I don't know what Art's cowls started off as.

Guys, what prop hub are you using? Thinking about one of the Tru Turn hubs to cover up the prop bolt on a Fuji 43E. Let me know.

That's alot of motor for this plane/airframe design. For a gas engine Id stick with either a MVVS 160 or RCS 140. They both weigh about 2 pounds and won't shake the glass fuselage apart. If you keep everything forward you can get the weigh of the plane down to 12- 13 pounds. It will fly and land much better than a 14 to 17 pound Chipmunk.

A 150 four stoke is the perfect engine for this plane.

Pe Reivers stated the there 1.60 gas engine is smoother than their glow 1.60 (26cc engine know as the 26gt evolution here in states)
Due to the Controlled ingintion on the Gas engine.....

WOuldn't you think that this was true for the Saito 32 gasser???
    Just some more thoughts......

I want to pick up a gas engine,,,, though about the RCS Roto 35 but it has been discontinued.... Not sure on the 25 roto though???

The Evoulution has the front carb, that woul hack up the fuse something fierce......
I will not put Glow in this plane...... They are too messy, and honry for me anymore!......
I really want to limit the glow engines to a very few planes and my off road race trucks and 1/8 buggies....

    Justin

I may end up placing my 40cc f3A engine on it, stick a real beuty of a SOLO 3-blade scale prop on it and do some good throttle control.....
That seems like the best option for now....

I'd use the 120 you have in your hand. Where would you put the muffler for the 40?

    BTW,

What type of fuel are you using in it?

What size evolution are you referring to? The 26? I though someone put on an Evolution 26 with good success and minimal hacking.

The 26 would be a good match.

I think you are talking about the ROto engine that was posted while back....

It was a 35cc and it had the carb and muffler in the back.........

There is a post further back that shows a evolution 26 and it looks pretty ugly do to the front carb placement on that engine.....

    Justin...

Just though I would show you what the 35gt (blue head)and 35cc roto(red head) look like....

    Evo 35gt is unacceptable!......

No measure, but it should be any different intalling that than the roto 35cc engine...
In fact it should fit better, do to the read exhaust.....
The Roto needed zero cuting of the firewall to get the muffler in it.....

The ZDZ 40 F3A and a Scale prop seems like the big ticket......
I would place the evo 26gt in this plane if it looked better but I have the 40cc and it weights the same as the 26gt and I can place a nice 3-blade prop on it.....

Looks like I have some measuring to do...... To make sure it fits.....
