Sure you could mount it inverted. To minimize cutting the bottom of the front all up - a shaft extension (if such a thing exists) would be advisable to keep the engine as far back as possible. Of course you remember that the prototype also used a ton of lead in the nose for balance so you know what moving the engine back will do.

The Enya and Laser four strokes have the push rods and valve covers in the rear giving more clearance. The Enya comes with the prop driver tapped to accept the provided pins to lock in a spinner back plate. With this engine a small aluminum disk can be used to extend the prop out with little trouble. A 8x1mm thread Higley heavy hub will counter any CG changes.

Looks like a G26 will also fit completely in the cowl minus the plug with a 1/4-3/8" longer custom prop driver. I hope to find out this coming week.

Today it was raining (no flying) so we got the ailerons and flaps mounted, linkages made and working. Check out the scale tabs on the ends of the ailerons!

Capt - she is lovely! Beautiful ... sigh ... now to find out how much it will cost in Malaysia. They usually sell them here for almost twice the price in the US, GP prices here totally sucks.

Anyone thought of using the RCV 120 SP to keep their plane cowling looking nice? Its geared and can throw a big prop.

Picked up mine today. WOW! Again, Great Planes has done another fine job. There gooood!

I was doing a little searching and an OS 160 four stroke would really be nice. Both cylinders would stick out 1/4". But still contemplating on a gas yw 24, RCS 140.

A twin would be really nice in this plane. I had a 1.40 sitting on the shelf so that made my decision for me.

I have a 160 twin and as you say both valve covers will protrude. If it fit without cutting it would have gone in, it may in the future anyway. I think the carb would have to stick thru too. I am not sure you can get the cowl over the engine even with the valve covers removed.

I wanted to keep the engine concealed but in reality it is not going to win in a scale competition so it really doesn't matter.

Yes, either the cowl gets wider or the top half of the cowl gets removable.

Is anyone installing a YW 24 or RCS 140 GAS?

    Thanks,

    Gunny

More rain today! So the wing is now done. Fitting only needed a little sanding for a good fit. I did find the first problem area in the mounting of the wheel pants. The method used does not give good support and the pants flop around loosley. My fix was to install a bracket to clamp the wheel pant to the gear strut. Nice and solid now. (strut fairings not yet installed). The wing weighs 4 LBs. - total so far is 10LBs.

All I have done so far is the ca hinges, trimming the canopy, cockpit and decals. I used Radio South 1/4 scale hinges. I hope to have the wings completed tomorrow. I'm a little slow right now.

    Capt G,

What are you using for servos?

Servos are Expert (JR) 571s (65oz) for the ailerons, flaps and elevators, 2721 (119oz) for the rudder and a std bb servo for the throttle. An interesting observation re. the wheel pants is that there is a picture on the side of the box showing nylon straps securing the pants to the strut, An idea that did not make it into the instruction book!

I thought I saw straps somewhere. It makes sense since why would you install the wood back up plates without installing straps and screws. They may have rushed the planes along to get them out for christmas and missed some of the details in the manual.

Are the formers in your fuselage pronounced? I figure the decals will distract from them. Too bad they didn't install them on the panel lines.
