So what's your freaking point? I wrote "most of the smaller RTRs." It's very simple, if you don't want a Kyosho buggy--don't freaking purchase one.

By the way, here is a photo of my Kyosho Mini-Inferno with its new oil shocks.

does someone who has one reckon the one in the kyosho video is stock, or not even close. the shot of the two of racing, they look good. but how much do i need to spend to get that level of performance.

The slipper comes very loose from the factory. It needs to be tightened quite abit...and also the slipper pad/washer needs to be roughed up alittle with a dremel so it doesnt slip as much. That helps get the stock setup up and moving. But it needs a faster motor and new gearing for racing. And Im pretty sure the M8s in that vid were running oil shocks..8 cells and thier x-speed motor.

Cool - what battery packs are you using and what pinion? Any shots of a close up showing the gear mesh??

I'm using a 3-cell lipo--it's on top with a JR RS300 synthesized receiver stashed in the stock battery compartment. I am using the stock pinion for now anyway since it is like two pinions in one. The stock motor mount worked fine for the Castle Creation's motor though the stock shaft is slightly larger than the 8000kv motor and the stock shaft is flat on one side. I haven't really got on it yet, but will soon. At least the Half 8 has some punch now.

The freaking stock pinion gear slipped when I tried to get on the buggy, then I stripped out the pinion when I tried to tighten it down some more. However, I just finished making a sleeve for the shaft and for the few bleeps I gave it, the pinion stayed on. For how long, that is the unanswered question and next test. I also changed out the shock springs so they are a little softer now.

Edit: Well it appears I messed up the brushless motor when I made the sleeve and stuck on the stock pinion. However, the Mini-Inferno is not deadlined since I've already replaced the motor with another Mamba Competition X Package 8000kv motor. This time I stuck a Trinity Mini-T Hi-Speed Metal Pinon gear on it. I also shimmed the transmission using Mugen Seiki o-rings, greased it with some Team Associated Silicone Grease, and ended up replacing another part that was lost in the overall and later found with another Losi Mini-T part. I guess my Kyosho Mini-Inferno is a jack-of-all-trades now with Castle Creations, Mugen Seiki, Team Trinity, Team Associated, and Team Losi parts. I might as well add some Megatech lights (instead of Kyosho Mini-Z LEDs).

Can you tell me more about shimming the transmission? I am going to shim the diffs like I did on my mini t for a little extra strength but not sure where you are shimming transmission.
I too have had pinion slipping! Have flat spooted shaft on brushless and seems fine now, fingers crossed. Have you kept stock servo? I was think about putting a HS 81mg in mine but would be taped down, not ideal I know.

Last night, I also flat spotted the shaft on the replacement brushless motor and the Trinity pinion gear has stayed on so far. I used one Mugen Seiki shim on the motor end of the slipper shaft to remove some of the slop and I used a HiTec HS-5125MG servo since as you know, the stock Mini-Inferno uses a four-wire servo and integrated receiver/speed control just like the stock Losi Mini-T. In case you didn't know it, the Losi Mini-T bearings also fit the Kyosho Mini-Inferno and so do some of the gears.

Today I broke the stock front shock tower, today I made one from carbon fiber. Perhaps, not the prettiest, but it will work.
