Mine actually arrives today. Maybe I'll post up some pics when i get home.

I think the fantom engines are great, as this is my second one. (to replace last years model)

Last years was 1.35 I think so to jump to 1.6 seems good to me. Don't know about the overrating, but last years fantom was better and revved higher than any engine I'd ever driven. I think last years went to 44k rpm, so i was a bit disappointed to see this years max RPM's lower.

In any event, I look forward to breaking it in and running it against my fathers HPI .18SS which is supposed to only be 1.5hp. (That engine is HEAVY!)

Maybe more later.

Pics below. I'm kind of confused though. The crankshaft where I would screw the pilot shaft onto is WAY too short! When I put the flywheel on, the shaft doesn't even stick out through it, so there is no way i could thread on the pilot shaft. I'm going to be getting a hold of fantom tomorrow to see what the deal is. Anyone here have an idea?

Thanks

Hey away, sorry to tell you this but you should have waited in buying your engine. Im guessing you own a Rs4 of some sort or something like it. All the engines Fantom released recently were standard short threaded cankshafts. What you want is a Pilot Shaft which is much longer, they are releasing engines with this type of crankshaft in a few weeks or so. I know someone else who did this. He is returning his enigne for one with a Pilot Shaft when they release it. Ive heard of some people using parts from the TC3 to fit into this engine, but if I were you, i would return it and wait for the Pilot Shaft version to be released. It will save you all the hassle of getting things to fit together.

Yeah i already spoke to them about it. I will also be sending mine back for the longer shaft engines.

I tried the NTC3 flywheel routine on it and it still didn't work out for me. You end up running into problems with gear spacing, drilling new engine mounting holes...etc. Not worth it.

I'll just wait the extra couple of weeks at this point and get the correct one to start with.

I really wish they would have explained better on their site regarding the new short shafted engines. Oh well.

rear exhaust on a RS4. Does your exhaust pipe fit them very wel? Is it not so that your exhaust takes a higher position on your car and that's not good for the point of gravity i think
