Bruce has his head!

OK, so it's not quite the fine, polished, toothy grin of the "real" Bruce, but it's getting there.



The gaps in the wood will be filled and sanded, while the rough edges will be sanded smooth, hopefully this week.

Status: offline 		OK chaps, I finally pulled out a digit or three and set to Bruce tonight with some sandpaper and a vengeance!

I spent a bit of time applying "plastic wood" to Bruce's face and jaws, and goddamn was it disgusting to work with!

Compare it to the previous shot, and you'll see quite a difference in the shape of the upper and lower jaws (at least I think so!)

The eyes are just applied with a black marker, although I think I might have figured out a way to make them ultra-realistic!

(Apologies for the pictures looking a bit below-par, I was trying to get them before the batteries died! )

Status: offline 		Well, sorry I haven't posted any updates for a while - been a little busy - however, Bruce had some significant work done on him recently: he now has new FINS! I figured the original set wouldn't be strong enough, especially at higher speeds, or if in collision with something (a duck?!), so made some new ones from 10mm balsa. I also shortened his tail by two inces. In fact, I think he looks a lot better now!

Going away on holiday next week, so not much will be done to him until I get back!!

Anyway, here's the latest shot, with some others for comparison.



(The two rubber sharks in the foreground are 1ft and 2ft long respectively, the one in the middle is about 4.5ft, to give you some idea of scale! )

OK, so I was off sick from work today, and decided to do some work on Bruce. I haven't done much to him in a long time as I'm waiting for lead ballast to arrive(!! !!) so I can get back to work on the interior.

Now, it's not finished - there's still painting etc to be done, so I'm not expecting everyone to go, "Wow! That rocks!", but I thought I'd show it to you all anyway...!!

Small RC-Shark



I held this thing (well actually the box... ) in my hands and I can tell you that it's really something, measures about 10 inches in lengh and guess what, it has a waging tails that works!!! Looks like we were right about this system being functional after all!

Status: offline 		Yeah, I've seen that one in action (video downloaded from somewhere). It works, but in my opinion it swims like an epileptic stickleback! Keep seeing them pop up on eBay.

I did, however, pick one of these beasts up from eBay:



It does work, but the bath ain't big enough! Not sure of anywhere local that I can try it out (unless I can beg our high school to let me use their pool!)

I actually bought one of those little R/C sharks with the moving tail - it is AWESOME!! The bath just isn't big enough for it, though!

Status: offline 		Well, it's been a LONG time since I popped in here with progress of my shark!

Sad thing is, though, I don't have the shark any more, since it got rather ruined in a house move!

However, all is not lost, since I've been revisiting the idea a lot lately, and quite fancy reworking the model's structure to be more "user-friendly!" since the original version was a pain to work.

Status: offline 		I'm really interested in that flying shark! Not only am I a boat guy, but still fly regularly. My planes get more use than any of my boats! Have scratch built many off the wall flying objects such as a lawnmower, flying witch (great flier actually), stop signs, Snoopy's Doghouse and my personal favorite a flying car in the 22 or so years I've been in R/C. That shark is really cool. Where did you take that shot and how can I get in touch with the pilot or designer for plans!

Status: offline 		My grandnephew was given this at a yard sale because the charger was missing. (He has the remote.) It was sold by Radio Shack around 2005. I know nothing about electronics so would someone please tell me what I need in a charger. I know the Radio Shack charger used 6 AA batteries. I don't know the proper polarity. As I said, total dummy when it comes to electronics. Thanks for your help.
