Hello all,
Just what I need. Another forum to check everyday. I expect to find an Alpha Club under the tree this year. I plan to use it to move up from the 2M, 2-3 channel that I have been flying for the last couple of years. I also plan to add the flaps. I have found a couple of posts on the web concerning the weak wing spar?? I don't plan on full power, zoom launches but I do use a club winch as well as a hi-start. Any experience, advice, suggestions, etc? (I was just kidding, there is always room for another glider forum).
Thanks for the help,
Jack - Detroit, MI.

Hello Jack, Nice flying glider, but the wing is weak. I have been flying one for a short while. Just folded the wing on New Years day. In the process of dismantling it (to fit the remnants in the barrel), I found that the spruce spar doubler only extends out from the center 2 bays. I had cracked the original wing last season and replaced it with a new one from Multiplex. I would not get too aggressive with it. Good luck. Merlin

Hi Merlin,
Thanks for the reply to my post. I will remember it in the spring when it is time to fly. I usually tap them up fairly easy. I look at this plane as kind of an "old timer" and want to use it to get used to the ailerons, flaps, and mixing as well as something bigger than the 2Ms. that I have been flying.
Thanks - Jack

Hi Jack, I hadn't mentioned it previously, but I had been launching mine on a histart. Never did get to put it on a winch.
I had been using surgical tubing but just went to a histart from Holliday. Much stronger (APPARENTLY). Personally, I wouldn't put it on a winch myself. I also never configured mine with flaps, just ailerons that I could switch to spoileron mode. It does fly nicely tho'.
