OK.. Who just say the NBC NASCAR piece on Awesome Bill?? Flying his JR heli with his boy?? Lots of excellent positive nation wide exposure! Bill had another buddy at the field with him with a 1/3 Ultimate doing some high alpha stuff!

AMA? Are you listening? THIS is where you can get some mileage!!!

Awesome piece!

That was a great piece. The Ultimate was Mike McConville's new 46% Ultimate. He might be using it at the TOC this year and is looking for interested in producing it as an ARF for about $1,995. The design is awesome and does NOT require flying wires. I watched him set it up at the Nats in very little time with a lot of people asking quesitons.

I'm probably the last person on this forum to find out that Nascar
boys love to fly the big stuff.
Today on NBC's pre-race story, there was a section of how much
Bill Elliott enjoyed flying his helicopter and big gas Ultimate bipe to
relax between races. He did an excellent job of hovering the big
bipe, but he was more proud how his 5 or 6 year old son was able
to solo with his helicopter.
I have been a fan since his entry into Winston Cup and was suprised to learn what some of the drivers do other than race.

It was great to see, and was a well done presentation. Several million people just got a glimpse of how fun flying R/C aircraft can be!

I don't think Bill was flying the Ultimate. For the record.

Hello,

My son was at the Hobby Shop in Stockbridge Ga. last Spring during the week the NASCAR race was here in Atlanta. Well, Bill Elliot walked in and everybody was quite suprised that Bill flew. They all talked about RC stuff and nothing about NASCAR. He also flies full REAL planes.

There are several racers and pro athletes that fly r/c. Several of the NASCAR guys run r/c cars on a regular basis, at the tracks.

The piece on NBC with Bill was great exposure for our hobby. The unfortunate thing is, it still makes people think its very expensive to get into r/c. So when those people are at your field asking a bunch of "stupid" questions just encourage them to go to the LHS and check out r/c, ITS FUN!!!!

You know the questions: How fast, how high, how much.

Wouldn't surprise me if one of our fellow RCUers is well known in their chosen profession.

IMO: After several reviews via Tivo, that was not Bill flyn the Ultimate, however I do think it was Mike McConville. Looked like Mike from the back side and that was the Horizon Field. And Chase, Bill's son, is 9.
