Hi Ram-bro, the tri motor flew twice it was surprisingly quite he was not cranking it but a loverlee buzz, and when you consider how all three Moki's are mounted i don't blame him.
There will be lots of video's around soon, its a bit early yet i will point them out when they pop up.
Dave.

One question gang....
I finally put the wing on the fuse and drilled the mounting holes.
Now I need to sight in, the wing to the stab.
Looks like I need to shim one side quite a bit, maybe a 3/16" and sand a little to the other.
Did you guys had the same issue when you mounted the wing flat in respect to the stab?
I think I build everything square...why is this happening?

Thanks

I think I lined up the wing first.
B drilled the dowel holes.
C rear mounting screws.
D Temporarily shimmed the incident
E Built wing fearing to hold the wing in the right location. This is what serves as your final wing saddle.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Tom for the reply.
I followed the same steps.
I was just curious if you had a similar gap to fill with shims in order to make the wing level.

Take care.

Hi Fabio

I am with Old Tom on the steps for the wing, But 1 more step I leveled the fuse side to sie an mede sure the wing tips were the same hight from my bench. have went back to my notes , it looks like I had 1 deg of positive incedance in the wing and 2 deg's in the horizontal stab but not positive on that.
But my bird flies great when I get a chance to fly,

Hope this helps a bit

Cheers Bob T

To answer your question. There was a small gap. The wing faring's take up that gap when you are finished.

If I remember correctly. I modified the wing faring ribs to be more scale and curve rather then the flat design. Go back and look at the pictures. Not hard to change and it turned out great.

I went back to find the faring's in the thread and couldn't find any of the pictures as it turns out I didn't do a good job in taking pictures. Here is the two pictures that I found.

I finally made a decision on the new engine for the Jug. Been tossing it around for a couple of months. I even thought about putting a DA60 in there. The 60 is just to light for my plane. Decided to go with a new ignition Zenoah ZP-62. The Scale exhaust will bolt right up to this engine. I just wish they would have made it a rear carb. You guys will have to let me know where I can get a 90 degree intake manifold for the carb. I don't want to cut a hole in the cowl.

Engine should be here tomorrow. I'll post some pictures of it when I get it.

Got the new 62 today. My first impression is that It's Different. Now I have to adapt. I like that it has throttle and choke levers that I can use without modifying them. I also like that Zenoahs have a proven reliability record that I'm counting on. I don't like that it has a high speed needle that has a T-handle instead of a slot for a screw driver. With my luck the T-handle will be in the way of adjusting the low end needle. I guess I can modify it to suit my needs. It also still has the large diameter spark plug. They could have updated this to a CM6 plug since they did redesign this engine some what.

Now I have something to do when the weather turns bad again.

why did they leave the carb where it is? That would have been a modifcation worth advertising?

I'd fire their marketing people. They wouldn't be able to keep this in stock if they had Ignition and a rear carb.

I couldn't resist. I had to re drill the mounting holes in the firewall. The standoffs are to long. I'll have to modify them next.

Good choice Tom.
I have two G62 with spring starters one on the P-51 and the other will go on the p-47 I am building and a G45 on my Trojan.
By far the best engines I have owned.
I particularly like still the magneto set up. Never have to worry about charging batteries and ignition going bad.
They are like red wine. The longer you keep them the better they are.

For your 90 deg. elbow for the carb you can order one for sure from the Tony Clark web site.
With the 90 all will fit in the cowl.
I will save the money and bore a little hole. Practicality with some scale flavor is my p-47 team.

By the way thanks for the help with the fillets.
Wing is mounted now and I am filling the fillers solid with balsa right so I can sand them to shape tomorrow.

Fabio

Guys
If you don't want to go with the elbow, do as I have done cut the black iso block in half, the stuff is hard and will do in a kack saw blade, then I used a virtical mill cutter to get the surface spot on ended up about 1/16 less than half and have had no problems with heating to the carb this gives you about 1/2 clearance at the closet point, and my engine turns the same with or with out the cowl. the one negitive is the inside of the cowl get a bit wet after several flights and need to be wiped down.

For a 62 the only outher thing that would be nice is to know what Ralf C out in AZ did to the racing engines to ge the extra Rrrr's

Cheers Bob T

We're not called modelers for no reason. I had to shorten the standoffs for the new engine. Was going to ask a friend to cut it down on his lathe but I came up with an idea to cut them down on the drill press. Before anyone says anything. The Hacksaw blade had a handle on it. Don't try this at home cause I don't want you guys to loose a finger. It worked remarkably well. I was able to get them within 0.003" on their length. It is more important to have them the same length then a certain size. I'll have to get some shorter bolts and then I can check and see how it fits.

Tom,

Here is a site that is located in North Carolina that you can get a 90 degree intake manifold for the G62 carb.
They are very nice to deal with and I received mine within 3 days of ordering it.

Got the backset right but I think The engine is to far to the right by about 3/16. I'll have to work on moving it over when I get in the mood.

Called Vogelsang. Got the answering machine. Will try back later.
