I hear what you are talking about sweetpea. I was thinking on adding a skin plate on mine but never did, forgot about it. I dont think it would add much weight at all, just fill the weave with primer, next to no weight. The actual P-47 had built in rails to rienforce the bottom for belly landings I will be careful handling mine around as well, so I will not damage the bottom, but it should be fine, and strong enough as is.

completed one aileron hook up now. Have manufactured the flap control horns out of aluminium angle and used the exact same template as for the P47. Will work out perfectly.

Those flap horns are epoxied in place and curing now.

Hi Peter

Re the blue border around the bar, there was not one on this aircraft. It went into service with just the blue circle and white star. The white bars were added in the field. This little quirk is one of the things that attracted me to this colour scheme, just something a little different. I have attached the drawing I will use as documentation, it is only black and white, comes from the Aero Detail book that you also have. I have also attached some colour doco for 2 similar aircraft from the same squadron, both belonging to the same pilot, one before the white bars were added and one after.

As for being fast work, not really. I actually work quite slowly on models, I like to take my time and get things right. This has happened quickly out of nessessity, I have spent an awful lot of time out in the shed over the last couple of weeks. Regularly out there until 2, 3 or even 4 am, then back to it at 7 or 8 after way to short a sleep. Lucky ( sort of ) things have been pretty quiet with both of my businesses lately which has enabled me to spend alot of the day in the shed as well.

Re finishing your Jug, I will paint it if you do all the sanding!!!!!!!

Cheers

Mick

ahh I stand corrected! I do recal lreading something about all of that. Gessus I would be atotal basket case if I only got a couple of hours sleep, as it is I'm lucky to get 6 hours a night.

What does the mrs say about you being in the shed 90% of the time? I know mine would happily lock me in there permantly if she could

Hellen is pretty cool about it. She understands that I am working towards a goal, ie. the Rally at Dick Smith's place, and I don't normally spend that much time on my building. She would rather see me bust my butt to achieve something than throw my hands in the air and give up. It would be easy to use having to move houses as an excuse.

She is also keen to see me get to Dick's place as I will be flying the Skylark down there. Dick flies and owns everything from powered hang-gliders through to his Cessna Citation and Cessna Caravan. It would be really cool if I can get the chance to take him for fly in the Skylark. If that happens you better believe there will be lots of photos taken that will be sent in to every flying magazine I can get them to!!!

If he really likes it he might even buy one. Do you reckon I should accept a personal cheque from him?????

Aussie Bolts & Bits is also a sponser of the Rally at Dick's place, so as the "Chief Boltologist" I must be there!!!!

Cheers

Mick
