Craig

Your repair looks great and will most likly be more than you need

Well pulled the line tape on the wing and I think it turned out ok hears some pic's , it is not babby but smooth but it works for me, next is the silver and will be using Latex 1 coat on the whole bird and 2 on all of the under side surfaces, then it is the cam colors form the UK 1945 so we will just hae to see.

So far the latex paint has added less than a lb to the total weight.

Bob, looks good from what I can see. If it is a little rough, go over it very lightly with some 400 wet paper. This will remove any high spots. Looking good.

Retracts are ready for mounting, just to lazy to head to the basement. Peter, so far so good with the 622's, I have removed one spring coil to loosen the suspension, and I may remove one more. These are tough to slide in so I need to reduce the tension in order for them to actually do what they are suppose to.

Craig.

bob, you are making good progress there mate, light wet sand with some 600 wet & dry paper will make that look nice.

Craig: take it the robart oleos are too firm whcih causes the model to bounce back in the air?

You should get a set of the oil damped oleos from Custom retracts here in Oz. Stops all that behaviour !

Guys Thanks for the kadoo's
But this latex primer will not wet sand it makes it tacky, but dry sands if you are careful and keep the papper (200 grit) cleaned off, and I did plan on a little more sanding,

weather hear is great but the flaming wing is a gale 20 25 and gust so mabe I will get a final sand, and a squirt of silver on tomarrow

Sweetpea01

I used 1/64 chart tape, when you but it down be careful not to stretch it as it will let go with the slight's air pressure the spray gun was adjusted to a spot about 3" dia when gun was at about 12: from the surface

Hope this helps

Never had an issue with the plane bouncing back into the air. I do find the suspension stiff, so I removed one coil ring to allow the suspension to work better.
Repair complete, just going over the airframe to make sure everything is ok. Hope the weather improves so I can test it out. There was a bit of landing gear rash on the stbd wing, so I covered it with tape, and will repair later.

cool mate, you just need those glass covers and you are done. My mustang has lots of dings in the undersurfaces just like yours. When they get too rough looking I sand it back, 3/4 cloth and a repaint.

50 hr service!

spent last night in the hospital till 9pm, little blok broke his arm at school. tripped in some bark and landed on a piece of concrete near the path. Nasty brek just below the wrist and he has to go back to see the otherthopod in the morning. Most likely will need to go undera GA so they can manipulate the arm into the correct posistion.

This is his 3rd broken arm, all done at school or day care. One extreme kid!!

He reckons he is not going to run again - yeah right!

Ongoing maintenance for sure , besides it adds character.
Glass covers to follow soon. I need to get some more stick time prior to the scale contest in June.

Bob,
sorry to hear that you pranged the weeks, bloody shame as it looked nice. I'm sure you will have it fixed in no time though.

We have to take the little man to the hospital at 0630 tomorrow morning. he will go under and have the arm set properly during that procedure. 4 weeks of the cast and then he should be back to his Mr Mischief self again.

Hopeing to squirt some primer this weekend on the P47 fuz so fingers crossed with the weather.

cheers
Peter
