The rivets are scale manor and have the 1943 half round shape. In the middle of the 50ties the industries changed over to the flathead grind off type. Just too sad the birds in the museums use the newer type. The old type is unavailable, the new type cost around $1.50 a piece (certified).

G-Pete, your domed rivets do look great but I don't believe they are accurate for the Jug. Flush riveting was around prior to WW2 and even the prototype XP-47B featured flush rivets in its construction. Below is a link to a large format pic of a very early P-47B and I don't see any evidence of domed rivets. Just my .02 cents.

They do look good regardless if they 100% scale or not though.

been so busy and stressed sorting out things with the house build that just not in mood to do much building of late. We had an interesting chat with the bank last night and after crunching the numbers we need to see our current place early and go rent while new place builds, this is for about 14 months

Reason being interest charges on combined mortgage of current house and new land plus progress payments during construction. we had hoped to stay here and sell towards the end.

Other problem is that our housing market has plateaued or even dropped so we are going to push pooh uphill to get what we want for our current place. 12 months ago you could name your price and it would sell in days but with interest rates up and price of petrol through the roof people are very wary now.

downside of selling early is that we need to declutter upstairs to make the place seem more open and larger which means we have to sotore all of that in the garage, hence my workshop will get packed up to make room for everything. Stil ltrying to work out how to have my cake and eat it too. wish me luck!

Fingers crossed.

Going to really, really try and get my bony ar se down to the workshop tonight and do some panel lines.

Yeah, sad but true - all my pics agree mostly flush. Don't worry, unless you're having it judged it looks cool as is G-Pete.

Here, have a look at this thread to take your mind off it...(hint: let all the photos load ) We twin guys have all the fun it seems.

Feel for ya Pete

Don't know what you call them in OZ but hear they call them POD's and are reasonable about 50.00 usd per mounth and they are water tight. size 8' wide 12' long and 8' high there are longer ones.

T/T nelson paints today and coloers have been shipped, so may get back on the 47 next week, will be nice to get back at it .

Pete, it's not dead money, but rather, think of it as the cost of modelling I know that after a few months of mot being about to play with my models, i would pay a small fortune to have some room...

How are the last days at the old job? kicking back relaxing?

did the money e-transfer come through?

Thanks

Dave

yeah now I wonder if I can claim it as a tax deduction! People next door who we are very friendly with have a huge 4 bay shed in their backyard so we are going to see if we can rent part of it to store some stuff, would be cheaper then a storage shed and will allow me to keep workshop here till house sells.

We are going to try and sell DIY as I detest giving some flea bag of a real estate agent $10k for doing bugger all.

Work is dead boring, surf the net mostly tho did set up a few meetings today and crack the whip with a few people, ho hum

yup got the $$ thanks mate

actually did a little on the 47 tonight, applied frisket film on a couple more ha tches and laid shaped tape down where the 3 louvers are on each side at the front. Instead of cutting slots out I am going to apply putty over the tape, sand back then peepl the tape, should look ok I think.
