Well Done outstanding[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I totaly agree. That plane looks great. Something about a Jug flying low level over a grass field!

Now just paint that prop and it will look even more scale

Wing mod starts on post #199 on page 8.

VeeAte I will tomorow make some video so, it will be on post in few days.

Sweatpea01 you are right, I paint prop in black with yellow tips and it's much better...

one is a forgues research fuel dot and the other is a Hangar 9 fuel dot (for smoke).

Then there is the robart air fill valve and a JR charge jack that I make for my Spektrum data logger. basically I make a male to male connector and glue it into that charge jack. Then it plugs into the data port. I then make a female to female plug for the data logger itself. Now I can check any of my planes with just one data logger and I don't have to take the plane apart to find the info.

On a side note- I painted the top of the wing and the cowl and one bomb olive drab today.[:D]

Peter_OZ -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/12/2008 1:26:05 AM)

not to put a damper but fuel and electrical together, not a good mix

sweetpea01 -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/12/2008 1:33:39 AM)

Not really concerned. The fuel dot doesn't leak. Its also on the bottom, so if there is any overflow while filling it drains out the hatch. But as I do with all my fuel dots, I always wipe up any extra before I fly if there happens to be any.

The good thing about the logger port is it doesn't control any surfaces and only pulls power when I plug the logger in, which would be at ground speed zero with engine off.

But thanks for the concern.....others may chose to do it different than me.

Paint Klasskote

-Olive Drab
-04 Gelb yellow
-Satin hardner (I added 1/3 of the container of extra flatner into the Satin hardner as well)
-reducer

Bomb Release Aerotech Models *They are going out of business*

-Pylons
-bomb release mechanism (similar to the BVM hatch release, its a simple design)

Bombs/Centerline tank Hangar 9 P-47 Bombs

-I ordered just the bombs...they were like $15. I got 3 sets to screw around with

Next up is painting the markings on the plane

darren763 -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/12/2008 3:45:59 AM)

What did you think of Klasskote? Was it an easy product to use? I should get some and try it..?.

Thanks for all your help.

Darren

sweetpea01 -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/12/2008 4:03:53 AM)

Not sure yet. So far it was easy to use for Satin finish.

I painted a hatch about a week ago for another plane and used the gloss finish and wasn't entirely happy with the results. I think it was more of an issue with my other paint gun and airflow than anything.

It smells pretty bad, but not as bad as PPG. Its also not as expensive as PPG.

I do like that I don't have to do a clear coat unless I want to. I'm not doing one on this plane. I want the finish to stay flat

rt3232 -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/12/2008 3:46:59 PM)

Hi guys

About the paint with ppg and glass coat I understand you need to ware a cem/mask even if you are spraying out side//. so that is what pushed me over to nelsons and about the same $$$$ as glass coat, no clear coat required if you are running gass only a slight oder when spraying out side water clean up

cheers Bob T

sweetpea01 -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/12/2008 5:41:04 PM)

I spray outside with the respirator with Klasskote (epoxy based) as well as I do with PPG.

dinointexas -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 1:13:46 PM)

im not tryiny to highjack this thread, i have read this entire thread (ONCE!!) and i have noticed there are some very skilled builders on this plane, i for one am not a skilled builder and i have a question
ok i'm almost finished stringing the top half of the fuse, im building the bubble top edition, and im kinda stuck, here's my question. the plans call for 3 top stringers from CB to F9 (CB is also known as the top half of F5) the F9 former has only one deep notch cut in the center, do i just sand and cut the stringers so that all three fit in the notch? The Instruction manual does not make it clear as to what to do. thanks

here are a few pics

G-Pete -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 1:45:32 PM)

Very simple you just glue the the left and the right ones left and right from the center....

...don't forget to put -1 degree in the horizontal stab

Happy landings

Hey Pea,

Why do you use 4 switches??

BTW: check out what is in my office...

dinointexas -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 2:03:54 PM)

but why is there such a deep groove for the center, the one degree is for the incidence? is that correct?

So you can place a second stringer underneath and make the saddle between the fuse and the vertical stabilizer stronger. Here in that pictures you see why...later on you will rest the airframe for awhile, sheeting and installing motor and servos and all the rest...

Yes the -1 is referred to the incidence. Some guys put almost -2 in there. On the end you don't have to put that much down elevator in to fly level.

Happy landings

G-Pete

(I have to admit I had help[:D][:D][:D][:D])

G-Pete -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 2:32:09 PM)

and when everything goes right she will fly like a dream and land like a charm...3 inches from the center line[:)]

Happy landings
G-Pete

dinointexas -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 2:37:54 PM)

that all makes sense now, however, i will be planking mine, could you tell me if the center stringer also goes two inches into the saddle area? also i think i am supposed to sheet the sides of the saddle pieces as well, is that correct?

G-Pete -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 2:42:13 PM)

Leave the center out until you have the vertical stab connected then before sheeting put the center in and connect the stringer to the vertical...[;)]

pooh - one long sentence hahaha

hope this helps

Happy landings
G-Pete

dinointexas -> RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!! (10/14/2008 3:16:12 PM)

oh my goodness, no wonder its a deep groove, thanmks so much pete, one last question and then ill leave you alone for about 15 minutes. LOL. tell me why i need to make the two lateral stingers 2 inches deep in the rudder area? and do i just plank up to the F9 former? oops thats two questions thanks
DINO
