I used the '60' decal from major, using the larger pair of the 4 provided on the sheet for the fuselage. The Diameter of the 'star' field is 6 7/8".

The diameter of the 'star' field on the decals provided with the kit was 4 5/8".

    Hope this helps!

Wow....that gets me even more motivated to change the gear in mine. On Sunday I tried to start my ZDZ and it was not very "user friendly". The timing is correct and plug gap at factory specs as per the web site. It draws fuel choked and pops and sputters. Then I open the choke and flip away and not even a pop.....A bit frustrating to say the least. Other than the motor, mine is ready to go.

I want to get the engine running properly first and put some time on it before I set off on the first flight. Anyone out there with ZDZ experience have any tips for me???

Horrido, Try this, After you choke it and it pops, turn the ignition switch off and on again, then flip and it should start. I do this on mine and it starts right up.

Horrido, the falkon ignition system has some sort of funky deal that shuts itself off after a little while. Cycling the switch off and on again will reset it and it should start. I agree its weird but it seems to work on mine.

Have you had problems starting yours at all. There are multiple threads on here regarding this. some people swear it's a piece of cake while others just plain swear at the thing!

After pulling that prop through a few dozen times I almost started to swear at it. I believe it likes to be sloppy wet before starting. Another guy said to just open the choke half way after you choke it and it pops. Then when it starts, he opens the choke fully.

I'll try these tomorrow and tell you how it works out.

Boys it's been awhile. I about have my Mustang ready to go. I have a little more radio work to do and some nose art graphics to apply and she'll be done. Turned out pretty nice I think. Here's some pictures. Later, Maximus

Talk about being awhile. My mustang, (just like the one maximus built) finally got its 2nd and 3rd flight today. I finally had the nerve to take off on the 3rd flight (actually my first take off with it). I flew it around for a few minutes, what a feeling!!! Watching this big beautiful bird making its passes is just a pure gas!! Then reality hit me! The MDS 2.18 started overheating, the rpms just started dropping away. One of the best pilots at our club was nearby and I asked him to land it for me and he did so without any problem. I am not sure what to do but open the bottom of the cowl up and create a little more airflow over the engine and exhaust. The mod to switch out the gear for spring air and robarts struts is still the best decision I have made for this plane. Following Evans instructions makes it a very easy swap. I was afraid of the torque that the motor creates on take off but it turned out to be relatively easy to handle. I actually over did the right rudder a little bit and it took off flying to the right. Looked pretty pure the way it took off and flew though. I got it up high enough and had to do the victory roll. After flying my Sig SE the roll rate on the mustang made me feel like I could take a nap between start and finish! If some of you guys flying this plane get a chance, please post your throws so I can compare. I need to measure mine or I would post them now. Next step for me is to do a total flight, haha beginning to end. All of you guys were right about the need for using the rudder for turns. First couple of turns I initiated with ailerons and elevators only and you could just see the altitude bleed off! Sorry about the rambling on, but I am still excited about flying it.!!! This is the biggest plane I own and the 2nd warbird. The first being a GP Corsair with a Saito .72 on it. Not much of a comparison! Next up is building the Meister Corsair I have plans for. Should be a great winter for flying the 'stang and building the Corsair. Thanks for all the help and patiencce guys!

Kevin B, Congrats on your first flights with it. It flies like a dream doesnt it? Glad to see the gear combo worked out for you. Mine are still holding up fantastic after lots of flights. You might want to think about going to zdz power, no problems with overheating and plenty of go-go power. On the ailerons, Im using all the throw that the aileron bevel will allow, about 45 deg. With that much throw, mine has a very fast roll rate. And I do use the rudder in the turns too, makes em look more realistic.

Nice job!! It does fly great doesn't it....it's a well-kept secret in modeling I think.

I have had mine on hold while my son competed in karting nationals in Vegas the past few weeks. Now I am back and will finish and fly hopefully within a few weeks.
