I used a Menz Ultra 19/10 for break-in. Now I'm running a Mejzlik 18\12. Good speed and descent vertical! I also use the SlimLine ShowTime pump system for smoke. Looks really kool with the smoke coming off the side of the fuse instead of underneath.

I was thinking of using a bambula 18x10 for break in and a APC 20x10 for regular flying. What rpms do you get now?

Questions for the guys that have finished and flown this WM P-51:

How does the two piece wing work, install etc?

Is anyone running a retractable tail wheel assembly?

How does this model compair to Top Flite 84" P-51?

    Thanks

Mine is the second generation kit which features the new wing with flaps. It has 2 aluminum spars for the wing. The instructions provide for disassembly after use. I glued my spars into the wing (perfect fit) and then glued the wing halves together.

I use the retractable tail wheel assembly from Robart. It works fine. However I opted to use pull-pull cables for both the rudder and tail wheel steering - servo mounted in the radio compartment with tanks, pump, batteries, etc. My first one used a rudder/steering servo direct connected to the rudder with the tail wheel on the bottom of the rudder. That servo stripped gears and stalled during flight resulting in a total loss. I never before and will never again use direct connection. Pull-Pull only!

I can not compare to other kits. This is my first large warbird. I do know this one is not true to scale. It doesn't exhibit any bad habits and is pretty fast.

My exhaust was custom made by Bold Mufflers. I know the TF version has a scale exhaust available by both Bold Mufflers and Keilo (?). I also tried a ZDZ 50 but the extra weight required counter balancing. I think the ZDZ 40 is a great combo for this plane. I think guys have used as much as a ZDZ 60 in some of them.

    Have fun Frank!

    Hi guys,

The two piece wings are bolted together.

I am using the stock pull-pull rudder and it is working out pretty well for me.

Here is the pic I promised!

I am having a problem uploading pics.... I'll keep trying..

I have the stock mechanical retracts on my plane. This is the new version so they are beefier. Yet, the gears seem very weak and they swing the plane sideways a lot. I am thinking of replacing these with robarts. Any suggestions on which gear will fit? I reckon the Robart 550RS with struts and 4 inch wheels.
