I will try, but I am far from being an expert in radios. Radios back in the 50's and early 60's (sorry but that's as far back as I can go) were set up this way because of the radio design. It had something to do with the signal or something, but as radios evolved it wasn't necsasary and we moved into Mode 2 which is what you are using. Even though Mode 2 is the most popular here in ths States most countries still use Mode 1. Japan and the pacific rim down to Australia, New Zealand use this Mode and many if not all European countries. Most of the guys up here call it Mode 1, Archaiac. Hope this has made some sense and somebody with more knowledge jumps in and helps me out.
