To All on this great thread:

Bob Zar made me envious so I posted a couple of pics in my gallery.

The Taube is the prettiest plane I've ever built, thanks to my wife's eye for color and far as I'm concerned the prettiest lady I know.

An Evo 100? No way unless you wanna just lift off and fly like a Piper Cub! The ST2300 will be great ... anyways how heavy is the plane? My PacAeromodels Laser will be about 9.5 lbs only. I got a TT120 for her!!!

gentlemen.....I balanced her using the 1.5" recommended at the wing tips. This translated to 4" at the fuselage from the leading edge of the wing. What can I say...perfect balance. Now that I see the pics.....I'll have to relevel my wheel pants darn

Now for the weight.....I used a bathroom scale. I calibrated the scale to zero for this and checked it with a 1 lb weight......perfect. Ok, I then proceeded to place the plane on the scale. I used a small mirror to view the weight since the readout was under the wing. Bang on 10 Lbs.
I used another mirror to reflect the scale readout...but the angle is deceiving from the pic. Trust me guys....10 Lbs weight without fuel. Align the two red lines vertically and I think you can see it's 10 Lbs....trust me though..it is. If all goes well, I'll maiden here this weekend. If the temp is about 7+ above zero, I'll take my digital cam an somehow upload the vid of the maiden flight.

Kaz - 10 lbs for a 72" plane is brilliant. You are gonna have one hell of a good time!

Bob - 51 years!!! Oh man!!! Wonderful!!!

Bob - Congratulations on the longevity. Not many of us who have these kinds of bragging rights.

Temp is supposed to get to the mid 40s tomorrow so I'm planning on going out wi/the Laser. Hope the runways are plowed and the winds aren't to bad. I'm good up to about 15 mph unless gusty as the devil. Then I hang it up for another day.

For what its worth. December issue of R/C Report has a nice write up in Frank Tiano's column about an event the flying club I belong to hosted. "Warbirds over the Rockies". The Stearman pictured with the 7 cylinder engine and 34" prop belongs to Glen McGree, owner of Action Hobbies, that I referred to in one of my earlier posts. Was a fun event and lots of good flying.

Good Job Bob. That is one awesome Laser. Impressive. You are a skilled builder. Keep us posted. Cutting out the stars for the wing is going to be a tedious job. Good Luck.

Cheers.
