Lynn,

I cannot speak from personal experience, but the US25 has a reputation of being very under powered for its size and weight. The weight won't be a problem, you will need it on the nose anyway. The lack of power is going to make for disappointing performance.

I would stick with a 35 minimum.

What He Said!
My Precedent T240 flew with on of these motors, ran very smooth , but under powered. It is a Homelite motor ,runs good but not very strong . See the r/w/b/ plane, the Quadra "same size as G38" on the y plane. I now fly the 240 with a Quadra 35 same weight and about the same size as the Decathlon.

I'm new to gas engines. What size fuel line do I need for the Zenoah G38?

Its not realy the size as the type, most use a 3/32 line, on larger models some jump to a 1/8 tygon gas line Dont forget to convert your tank stopper to a gas one.

This should work fine for a 38cc link to tower http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD739&P=M

Great thread, I just got my Super Decathlon yesterday, can't beat Towers price with the additional $25 off coupon, this will be my first gasser as well, but I wont be building it for a while since I'll be working on a 1/4 scale Laser 200. I'm intending to install some kind of micro video equipment, also lookin for an engine in the 32 range. Has any body tried a Ryobi coversion engine?

Is the engine mount, shown on plans, strong enough for the G38? Did anyone make any changes for this engine?

The plan design is good. On mine, I cut new firewall and engine mount parts from 1/4" aircraft ply instead of laminating the 1/8" lite ply pieces. Just my personal preference. The kit wood will probably work just fine.

Hi all. I just have purchased my Dynaflight Decathlon today. I made the decision from this thread, and will incorporate some of the ideas of this thread. I plan on using a G26 that I already have and by the looks of it I will have to move my servo's forward. I'm just in the process of completing a TF GS P47.

I'm not sure which engine to go with on this plane, I wonder if a Fuji 32 will have enough athority to pull it at 5800ft plus altitude.

Hi,
Just order a SD kit from tower. Looking forward to getting started. Planning on a G38 with B&B starter and smoke setup.

Thanks for all the posts and info here. Has helped with the choices and am sure will be calling on specific help before its over.

I'm just now putting together my list of what I need to buy to build this plane. I'm planning on getting the Zenoah G-38 for this, but I Have a question abut the muffler. I was looking at the Bisson Pitts muffler for this plane, but the one I found I'm not sure about it fitting properly in the cowl. Here is the Bisson muffler I found on Horizon Hobby: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByCategory/Product/Default.aspx?ProdID=BIS07138 Is this the proper muffler to fit in the cowl of this plane??

Thanks in advance.

Ken

That's the right one, I'm getting one myself, the stock muffler won't work in a cowled application.

Or you can get the B&B twin stack for around $35. It's what I use.

Joe,
Go to bennettbuilt.com
They sell the zenoah already rigged up for smoke and or spring starter with a mount

Looks like a great resource.
