My used Dr.1 has a negative built into the top wing.  I was concerned about this when someone pointed it out to me but you know what.....she handles beautifully at cruise and WOT.  It is not a BUSA but samo-samo IMO.   I am leaving the neg into it.

I bolted my stab on as well so that I could adjust inc. as needed. Flew it on Sat.-first time in a while and always a joy. I did prob. 7-8 touch and goes and some real slow/low scale flying along with some not scale aerobatics. I love how this plane will wind up so tight in a flat spin-that small side area and rudder really gets it spinning in a hurry!!

Howdy folks glad to see the birds getting closer

Love the Miniature pilot Vid ROTFLOL

Mr Bigg Just love that Kessler looking plane and it does look like waldo was getting to him as he was starting to bail LOL

I'd go with the neg incidence also or the bolt on stab if I built another.

Mine flies great Love the way it handles its like a really big trainer actually and I have flown it in above 25 mph winds she handles just fine, and thats with the Zenoah 26cc so don't afraid to try it out.

Here is a real short vid of part of one my flights, a buddy in the club decided to put some effects to it he just wanted to try some things out but never used it before LOL its not too realistic but its funny

Looks like I will be getting this kit soon. I am going to try and dress it up a bit scale wise.

What mods do you all recommend for the kit? So far I am looking at bolting the tab on and making it adjustable. Making a bungee sprung landing gear. Adding guns and ammo boxes. Possibly an aluminum cowl from GTM, at a minimun a fiberglass cowl.

I will be powering the plane with a DLE-30 and using Hitec 645mg servo's.
Later!!
Anthony

Bill Hemphill in Tucson AZ is releasing a 65%, yes Sixty Five Percent DR1 Triplane Arf 2012. The hieght of the top wing is 6ft 3" with a fifteen foot span. I will see if I can locate a picture.
It will probably be quite a show to see him fly one. Bill has come to our club several times with some interesting aircraft, but its his skills flying them that are awe inspiring.
check out his website billhemphill.com

I am looking at picking one of these up during Christmas from Santa . i skimmed the posts but didnt see the engine size....
what are people using for gas motors... I prefer having extra if needed but do you need to go to the 30cc or is a 26 plenty?

A DLE-30 pulls this plane around just fine and it is not way over powered.

This will be my first 1/4 scale as well as gas kit. What prop is recommended for flying as opposed to break-in. I'm putting various parts on my Christmas list for family members!! (prop, wheels, solartex, etc )

Well, Mike, prop size will depend on which engine you end up using, but for a WWI airplane you generally want the biggest diameter, flattest pitch prop the engine will handle. I'm using a 20X8 on the DLE-30 on my Dr1.

When you say flattest pitch.. 8, is pretty high so by flattest pitch... your meaning the lowest angle of attack which won't over rev the motor? I know the WWI types like power and not speed. I've decided I'm going with the DLE30. With ease of ground loops do most still go with wood props? Also I don't see many if any models with the outboard lower wing skids? Any deas why?

I'll have to read this thread beginning to end. I like to kitbash a bit and I know the BUSA LG is a bit wide and not scale in height and it seems from page 1 the wingtips are not correct either.
