new breakage---i didnt realize the servos drain so fast in the mayhem and they almost died on me. i got far enough away for it to lose signal and it got away from me. i broke the lower pivot ball shaft off into the control arm. and i noticed when tearing down that both the clutch bell bearings were destroyed. wonder what caused that?

I have noticed that the clutch bearings don't last too long my self! The only thing I can think of is that maybe the play isn't correct from the factory for the clutch bell! Make sure when you put it back together that you put the right amount of shims in it to have about .060 thousands end play! Also The high torque steering servo will kill a battery! I wouls suggest charging the battery after every race, or if you are just using it as a beater then I would charge them about every 2 or three tanks! I still havn't broke anything yet. This past weekend we had a practice day on friday and I had a tie rod come off but all I did was stnap it back on and it has been fine ever since. I have bent one screw that holds the top of the shock to the shock tower but I was able to straighten it and keep racing!

the tech at my lhs said that the endplay is probably not right. it had 4 shims in it, but i dont know where they were because it all came apart in pieces.

um not sure, haha I have had mine apart with no problems. Um here is a few dummy questions for you, are you using an allen wrench on the end and not a pair of pliers? Are you turning it the right way? I don't mean to critisize your mechanical abilitys but I figured i would just check! lol Um other than that I don't know what to tell you. You might can apply a little heat like with a lighter or something to the lower controll arm. If it is turning fine but just want unscrew then put the control arm in a vise, turn the pivot ball with the alen wrench and use a pair of plyers to pull up on the ball at the same time! Other than that I don't know what else to do. Your last resort would be cutting the control arm to remove the pivot ball.

im trying to get the ball off of the shaft, not the shaft off of the control arm, the allen on the end of the shaft is to screw it into the control arm. the ball screws onto the shaft itself, so you have to hold the shaft with a pair of pliers and turn the ball with a pair of pliers. unfortunately i have removed some of the finish from the ball even with a rag doubled up around the jaws of the pliers. i called horizon and they said that i was trying to remove it properly but that they are really hard.

oh oh oh oh sorryI missunderstood! hehe um in that case have you tried using an allen wrench to turn the shaft and holding the ball with a pair of pliers? If I can remember corectly mine came apart fairly easy.

I put the pillow ball in a heater hose off a car, then used a vise to hold it.I had one come half way unscrewed in a heat race.I used JB weld for loctite on the threads,to make sure it does not come off again.

well, i just got back from the lhs and they dont have anything that will interchange anyway so i will just order a set. and by the way, i am putting the clutch bell bearings back in, how the heck do the shims go? it all came apart in my hands so i could not see how they were stacked. the diagram shows the shims between the outer bearing and the screw. is that right or do 2 go in the inside and 2 go on the outside?

I don't know about the drive shafts. But I have also heard that the mugen body and the kyosho 7.5 body will fit the mayhem with some triming. I talked to a lady at horizon and she said the new body will be out sometime in the biggining of april.

The 7.5 body will fit. If you look at the buggy picture thread(maybe page 15 or so). My buggy is tiger striped. That body is a Majestic for the 7.5. The front body post needs to be a tad higher but it works.
