Status: offline 		Do not thin it. Thinning epoxy changes the properties of the material. It might not cure. If it does cure it might stay rubbery.

The best way to thin epoxy is to buy thin epoxy.... MAS, MGS, West systems. I use MAS and its as thin as maple syrup. I get it from the boat shop... The hobby shop epoxy is just for putting planes together....

Status: offline 		I have used alcohol, methyl hydrate, acetone for mixing. Acetone, of course cannot be used over foam. Lately I have been using methyl hydrate with great results as it is easy to buy from wal mart etc. Different epoxies will give different results I have found. Pacer zap finishing resin will cure extremely hard even after being thinned, Hobbypoxy remains sorta rubbery, Havent tried west systems, I lay up small parts with 2 oz fiberglass cloth in latex molds I have made and the zap epoxy, is the best Ive tried so far.

Status: offline 		It's best to use purpose-designed epoxy. (There are many to choose from, and if you buy it by the gallon, or in even larger quantities, it's cheaper than the 30-minute epoxy you're attempting to adapt.)

Using anything but real laminating epoxy is asking for poor results. You're risking having a bad experience, (or just wasting your time and materials) which couid turn you off to composites. Skill is part of the requirement for good work, but so are the proper chemicals, and use of them.

30-minute epoxy is useful around the shop for other things. Save it.

Status: offline 		I've used West Systems slow hardner and epoxy on two planes and had great resutls with that. Get the "kit" with slow hardner and get the pumps. I think you'll be happy using this set up. Larry
