Hi,

i have fitted the gx1 2 speed to a cen rally, with 42/38 spurs and 16/20 pinions, could you give me an idea of whether my 18cv-r is likely pull these to ratios its full revs? baring in mind i am running 2.2" wheels and full spike tyres - motor is running well, i was aiming for a good 55mph...?

basically have i over geared it?

havent run it yet with these ratios due to waiting for parts, just interested in your opinion.

cheers

rob

Poorjudgment,

You should be fine. Actually you may want to go even taller on the pinions. Run it and see how it feels.

hi, thanks thats good news

do u do taller pinions than the 20 tooth? if so do u have a part number please?

thats the tallest i could find. unless pinions from other cars or other manufacturers will fit on my clutch bell, i have the threaded type.

cheers

Poor Judgment,

that is the tallest that we make at this time for pinion gears. However, you can install smaller spur gears to gain more top end. I believe other pinion gears will fit as I have heard other customers using up to 25t pinions etc. Thanks.

many thanks for that.

isnt the 38 tooth spur also the smallest that you manufacture?

is this a case of going elsewhere for the spurs too?
they are going to be a bit tricky to source i should imagine due to the design, unless the design is a standard throughout the manufacturers?

cheers for the help

rob

Yes 38 is the smallest spur gear that we make. Have you tried your current ratio yet? You should be good to go.

You should be fine with the 20T pinion for your second speed. I have found that it takes a good distance to wind the engine out with the pinion. Make sure that your first gear pinion size is large enough to still mesh well. I would suggest you bump the first up to a 15T pinion.

the mesh is good thx, 15t would be too small, although isnt the ct4 a 15/20t arrangement? does this run with 42/38t spurs as well? im sure it does....well honestly my mesh does look fine - i will see how it runs when i finally get my silencer.....

cheers for the help folks
