Thanks Buck,

Hurry up and ship yours to me so I can borrow your crate

I have not weighed it yet, but I have to do one more Dry Fit of everything, so I will jump on a scale and find out. I am sure the P200 will handle her fine.

Regards,

Kevin

Great work Kev.
The "curious" 3 blocks on the outside of the verticals should match up with the inside braces you made. They are reinforcement plates opposite those braces.

Grahm,

After seeing that detail, I am not gonna post any more of mine. I would love to see more pics. Yours looks awesome!!!!!

To all who have read, I apprciate the feedback and taking the time to read this thread. I hope to move on soon to another project and share the building with you again.

Hopefully I will get to see the BUG fly someday, at least to see if all the effort was worth it.

Thanks for Reading!!!

Hi Kev,

Looks great!

FWIW..I understand that those three braces were added as the vortices from the LEX apparently were so great that the vertical fins required these additions post-production.

Richie,

Unfortunately a promotion at work has kept me really busy, so the final finishing work on the F-18 has been slow. I am building this model for a customer/friend, and thankfully he has been VERY understanding of the slow progress. I told him I would have it finished by years end, I hope I can make it.

Kevin, et al,

I keep re-reading this thread for motivation building mine, and for the cool tips you have offered.
Please, as your time permits, post more pics. I am interested in seeing more detail in how you did the removable nose.

I am currently trying to work out how to do some neat scale moving gap covers for flaps and ailerons. I'm building a little model of how I think it ought to work, and will post pics as it comes along.

Here's my Bug....slowly but surely progressing.

Cheers!
Jeff

Hi Jeff, Im in the middle of building one of these too and have been stalled trying to figure out how to do the moving gap covers. I think the ARF version that I saw a few with earlier this year had them and they looked really good. Actually its what led me to pursuit them on mine. From what I gather its not going to be easy. Id love to hear your approach/ideas..... Id also like to get more info on the removable nose. I know I need to do that mod as well but can't get myself to cut the nose off till I am completely clear on how the mounting will work..... Im a year and a half in on mine. What scheme are you planning?

Greg

Greg,

I plan on using some Nelson Hobbies piano hinges for the gap covers. There is more info posted on the OTHER site (mods, forgive me) :http://www.rcjet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1216
This shows a mock up of the gap covers that Buck Garza and I devised. They WILL be easy...trust me. Check out that thread for more info.
I cut off the nose on mine, and have most of the idea worked out of how I want the removable nose to work.

As far as paintjob, some sort of USMC jarhead grey. Not sure of the squadron yet, but have narrowed it down to VMFA 314, 323, or 115.

If you need anything, please feel free to email me at: jkirkon@yahoo.com.

Brg,
Jeff

Dear Kevin Barr I would like to know how the Paint came out ?and if you will ever deliver the F18 A10 ect... your client is a very good friend of mine and hurts me to see him get ran around for several years from you,Im sure you had the best intentions but just fell behind but now after more than 3 years its time for you to honor the deals you made and Finnish the jobs you been paid for I read your emails and makes me sad that you have time to build a KingCat for yourself build jets for others go to jet events and then say your to busy to Finnish The Jets you been promising year after year that you have collected thousands of dollars in building fees,,,,,

Paul,

No one is a good friend of yours. You have NO friends. Daniel and I speak quite often and I know he does not need a worm such as you speaking for him. So why don't you crawl back into whatever hole you came out of and let the rest of us who use this forum for usefull and productive matters carry on.

You are living proof of the saying that "an empty barrel makes the most noise"
