Why Flip? Do you have any experience of it?

I think that the Madness would be better. I have seen Kyosho, and the build just doesn't compare to Madness. Also, there was some talk, about it being a shade heavy. The madness weighs so little, its incredible. So, one vote for the Madness.

For less than half the price of either(published at 129.00 at Hobby People), you could try the new Model-Tech Magic Extra. It's supposed to weigh in at around 5lbs, and will keep your wallet a little heavier in the process. Not to mention you wont have to screw around for hours fitting a cowl (dont get me wrong, I like the scale looks of the cowl, just not all the effort that goes with it LOL). And if/when ya tear it up, there wont be as long a mourning period on the wallet.

I know its comparing apples to oranges, but dont both make a splat when they hit the ground???

As a Madness pilot, its hard not to recommend the Madness. However, getting one may prove more difficult than getting the Flip. Both of them were designed by CPLR, I think it would be hard to choose between either. The Flip is available from Tower and the Madness is available from Central, with a 4-6 month wait

Go for the Flip and the YS63 should make it ROCK.

Madness is great, but only in still conditions, as soon as there is a breeze its a battle to fly as you intend. I found no problem flying one, the tail DID need some work, but then again it was put under a lot of strain, perhaps more than was originally intended. One brief word on this... the plane still flys well with one side of the tailplane flapping in the breeze after breaking.... . The Flip I have heard too is a tad overweight, not by much and I would assume the YS will still do its job. Probably down to availabilty issues then with you Americans! There is no shortage of Madness here in Europe... despite the plane being what... 3 years.. or more old?

Master,

IF you still have the Madness and you don't want it, sell it to me.

I do agree, without flying wires on the tail, they rip off. Happened 1st flight on mine.

I put my Madness on the shelf after one day of flyn it, I didn't like it. However, I was comparing it to other planes, primarily profile planes. Your right, it doesn't snap good at all, but it negative snaps and flips very well.

Also, I cut the wingtips off mine, it flew much better without the tips.

After a year and a half of flyn the Madness, I fly other planes and compare it back to the Madness and have put 2 of them on the shelf. I guess its just what you get used to flyn.

Re the flying wires on the madness. I braced the tail with ali tube. The frount part of the fin is in prefect line with the trailing edge of the tail plane. I cut, bent and flattened the tube to form a rigid dimond to Reinforce the tail. The tube was baloted on with small nut and bolts. After 1.5 years of flying no problems.

I power mine with a YS63 and a 14 x 4 W apc prop. The combination is awsome. I guess it is what you want. I find the prophanging great, powers out the top with authority. Kinfe edge stable for a 3d aerobatic, spins and snaps not so good but it does have low wing loading and bags of wing area. (If thats what you want get a Cap 232). The slow flying is very good and it will fly in winds. I have flown mine in 15-20 mph winds. You do get blown around though.

Conclusion is that it complemnets my seduction FS and Kyosho Cap 232 very well. It comes out when the conditions are good for it. The only aircraft I have flown, that does a full F3a schdule in a 50' X 50' X 50' box and at 10 mph!!!! without spining out.

Cheers

Kris

Bob, a fellow brought one out to GMA Sunday and I was completely impressed with it. Great climbing flat spins both inverted and upright. Very light weight. Throttle management a must!

YNOT,
I see that you removed the white covering in the front and replaced it with transparent so you can see what's left in the fuel tank, great idea!! I'll do the same on mine!!
Any idea where's your CG?
Also, what landing gear is that?

Ben

Ben,

Thats not transparent anything, its clear tape. Field modification LOL

The CG is back there, however I have never truly balanced the plane. I just added weight until I was happy with it.

The gear? I wish I could remember. This year at Joe Nall, there was this guy selling CF gear in the vendor area. I bought one pair and I can not find they guys card. If anyone know who that guy or company is, please let me know.

I don't think the CF gear is any lighter, in fact they may be heaver then the stock gear, but they sure do look cool.

Also, check the wingtips, there are none. Another field modification. I think it flys better that way.

That's just not true at all. Mine flat spins, climbs and flat spins, it does incredible waterfalls and even knife-edges quite well with proper balancing. Other cute things are the one wheel on the ground fly-bys and the elvator tail drag. Tail touches have become a routine and it shold only be a matter of practice time before I can reach out and grab it in mid-hover. Yes, brace the tail. Then put in some decent servos, especially on rudder and ailerons and have a blast. I run the OS50SX and will shortly prepare on for a Yamada 63.

And CPLR has not dropped the line either.

Flip-3D? Never flown one, a friend has one I we are waiting his report. It's a pretty airplane and I'm interested in that also. Why question the two...take both and be twice as happy.
