I has a YS 1.20 in my Excelleron and had one woodscrew back out of the mount ral about half way through the season. I fixed that by using brass threaded inserts and machine screws. If you aren't sure about T nuts then the theaded inserts are a good way to go. You can get them at a woodworkers store or online. Here is a link to the micro fastener page for them http://www.microfasteners.com/catalog/products/NUTBTI.cfm

    Hi all

I finally got my Excelleron 90 despite years behind! Its prolly the last 2 unit from the LHS. Waiting for the YS110S engine.

Building the wing now and fabricate parts to strengthen LG area. I follow Dean Pappas rubber band hold on the wing mount.

For the LG, I have to remove the small triangle stock. I planned to put in a 3mm hard ply and reinforce with bigger triangle stock to spread the mounting load to the entire bottom area.

I read a lot for the last 30+ pages on this thread.

Given the feedback, I will most likely start with 7in CG. As for the fuel tank, I can only get 14oz dubro tank to fit in.

Does any of you felt the fuel tank should be relocate as close as possible to CG to avoid the drastic 14oz change. What about fuel and flooding with a much higher tank position in the fuse?

Which APC prop you all love on E90.

I also read that most use the original stock antivibe mount on YS110. How is it holding up?
BTW, I presume you all did the aileron hinge gap sealing?

    Thanks in advance.

    Magna,

I was hoping someone else would answer your post. My Excelleron crashed a number of months back and it has a Saito 125; therefore, I can't answer your YS questions. I've seen others have great results with that engine.

I am running an inverted OS 120 in mine. But... a high fuel tank is NOT GOOD for a couple of reasons. One is the expected problem with mid-range transition. Frankly, I do not notice the CG change with the provided tank position, but then again, I don't notice a lot of things. If you move the tank back, you might consider using a smaller feed tank in the normal tank position.

    Dean,

Last year I found a canopy that works. It is for the HYDE OUT, an older pattern plane I think. The co. was Precision Aero Composits, but that address doesn't work now. I called Mike and Maureen Danphy at 615-220-0655. I believe the code for it was Pacho 04. If you can get it, it will look like it is too big. You will have to trim quite a bit, but it works. Probably does not extend quite as high, but looks fine. Good luck.

Another canopy that works well, if you can still get one is from the Icepoint by UltraRC.
When I lost my first canopy, I had a 2nd plane NIB and I layed up a fiberglass replacement using the new one outta the 2nd plane as a mold - worked great. I think that plane is still my avatar.

I ran the YS 110 and moved the tank back to the CG. NO reason not too. Don't remember the prop, Maybe 15X10

I had no problems with the stock motor mount. I've read lots of reports of the rubber antivibe pieces getting soft over time but I flew mine for 3 years on the stock rubber.

After 3 crashes and reassemblies I had to strengthen the threads in the wood beam motormounts with sawdust and CA but it held fine, although I checked them often for fear of them working loose.

AFter you get it flying = put some popsickle sticks between the trailing edge of the wing and the fuse, changing the incidence, - you may like it better. If so it's an easy fix to shim down the mounting block in the fuse and make the change perminate.

    BTW
The JR Propo Explorer is the same plane and hte Excelleron had only "minor" changes such as tubes for pull pull addded.
There is loits of good info in this thread that will trasnlate to the Excelleron.

JR Propo V90 Explorer Suggestions and thoughts...

post #27 shows the new tank location and patternflyer tells how to do it.
