Looks nice,, and that looks like a nice place to fly

Well here are probably the last shots of my Kingfisher flying,, she had been due for retirement for a while and the last time out took a bad landing (some would say crash ) and needs repairs again,,, Might just not make those repairs,,, we'll see

She's been a joy to fly for over 15 years

Thanks
Well that's kinda a joke, the one really bad landing was on flight #5-6, Radio/PCM Lock and it went in to the water full throttle, I rebuilt it after that and it's flown great since

She's just getting old and worn and needs major work to get her to a point where I'm confidant to continue flying her. I have all winter to think about it I guess,, No more float flys really this season anyway.

take care

Great job on the Kingfisher. It's so nice so see something that's not "same old, same old". I posted this before but for anyone tat missed it, Heinkel 51B, 60" ws, OS 90 4 stroke. Covertible to a land plane with an interchangable wing saddle.

My modified ARF Zlin Z50 on prototype home made floats.

Alas the plane is no more after an air to air with another model.

Nice! Here's my 2nd Neptune that I maidened a few months ago.

I flew at a M.O.B. Float Fly last May and crashed my first Neptune when I had a "Deadstick" too many. When I tried to land it down wind, it pancked resulting in crushing the wing and breaking the main spar. Here's a few pics of it before the crash. RIP I was in the middle of rebuilding it when a heavy shelf fell on it destroying the plane completely. It was my fault because I didn't secure the shelving correctly. We live and learn! Thank God I bought the other Neptune last summer, so it wasn't a complete loss.

Here is my Sea Dancer 120, rebuilt and re-engined with a Moki 180.  With a 96" wingspan, it is a big airplane and a majestic flyer.

Balsa USA Phaeton 90 on floats. Couldn't ask for an easier float plane to take off and land. 70" top wing, just a hair under 16lbs and flies well on an old Enya 120 fs.

Nice Sea Dancer. Was that a kit? If so, who sells it?

The original Sea Dancer was a 60 size build-it-yourself kit. RCM has the plans and Hobby Lobby kitted it. The kit went out of production 10 or 15 yrs ago.

The 120 size (also a BIY kit) was introduced in 1999, but unfortunately Fred Reese, the designer and kit manufacturer passed away after only about a dozen kits were made.

I found this one in Oregon. It had been built, flown with a 120 four stroke, and crashed before I bought it. After stripping the covering, repairs as needed, recovering and re-engine-ing, I am very happy with it.

It is aerobatic and very precise in the air, but the absolute best feature is the way it lands. (The photo in post #536 is a landing and the first photo below is a full flap approach.)

I attended a float fly last weekend and tried out some homemade depron floats on my Flying Balsa Scout autogyro. Total weight of the floats were just over 4oz. I have to say the gyro flew quite well with the floats on and I was even able to do some touch and goes off the water. I'm waiting for one of the fellow modellers who took a bunch of pictures of the gyro in action to send me a cd with all the photos on it. 'Till then, here's a couple shots of it sitting in my Koi pond.

My Elder Bipe was absolutely horrible at the field. So I hung it for 2 years and then had the bright idea to install floats. It went from a lazy field flyer to an aesthically pleasing float plane that I take up every calm night. Can't roll it, but slow and low are very rewarding. Anyone know where I can get more of these floats. I'm pretty sure they are Lanier Floats. Can't seem to load picture at this time.

I finally got the CD of the float fly I attended with my autogyro. It is a Flying Balsa Scout with homemade floats made from 3mm depron. Probably the most fun I've had on floats in a long time, and with an autogyro no less!

Enjoy! DC
